Would disagree usually with the morals behind situations like this, however given i feel we were completely shafted when Beams did it to us we have one in the bank.

Stringer could be a cult figure at the pies. Seems to be a bloke who loves big games, don't see why the deal wouldn't work. The Dogs and Pies haven't had the best history in the past few years (seems to be Eddy vs. Gordon at every opportunity in regards to the big club vs. small club debate), that's the only real barrier i see.

If Boyd doesn't like what the guy will bring I'd guess that might be a barrier

Actually Brisbane have picks 14 and 18... but if we did that I'd rather spend it on a Balta and Richards combo.

Remember Eddie talking about paying 95% by front loading contracts allowing us to spend 105% the following year to go after someone big. Could possibly still be the case.

That just gave me the fizz in all the right places, if it's Lynch then that's the way to do it, get him for nothing but cap money and keep the list intact, it's not like we are contending before 2019 anyway.

Pies have been rather quiet lately, who do you feel they need to trade out this off season?

I can’t work out if they are just quiet until they unleash or just have no money.

I know they have been tight with the salary cap the last two years. If Lever wanted to come to them, they might have to move others out. Would they give up their first rounder and a Scharenberg type? The problem is they don’t have too many players who would be attractive to the Crows, who pretty much don’t have too many weaknesses. They said in their review they wanted to rearrange their salary cap, but Mayne and Wells are locked in for four and three years respectively, they will have to recontract Darcy Moore next year, they have committed to their stars, I can’t see that they have a heck of a lot of cap space.

Sounds all nice and full of hope, but reality is the team this year was full of deficiencies, at either end of the ground, lacked pace with poor disposal.
These areas can only be improved with bringing in talent via FA and trade eg. Lever, Lynch, Darling maybe a Stringer. The ability to improve unfortunately doesnt sit on the list currently.
So while other sides are able to bring in players to improve their lists, and we stay "the same", its going to be one long crap year in 2018.
If we arent able to bring in any players due to miss management of the TPP, my next question as a member will be why is Eddie, Bucks and Hine still at the Club.
Ralph would have absolute no idea about our TPP. We have no "superstars" eg. Martin on mega contracts. The media is just fixated on Mayne and Wells. How much room in the TPP would Richmond have after the Martin deal, im tipping not much, yet they are linked with Schache and Stringer.
Ralph also talks about Collingwood not having any players that the Crows would want, well besides Petracca, Hogan, Oliver and Viney, what do Melbourne have??
Barrett sat on the footy show panel last night with the Collingwood president, Barrett made the comments last week that we had no salary room space because of the Mayne deal, which l find absolute BS. Why didnt Barrett ask Eddie last night if Collingwood were in trouble with its TPP and that was stopping us persuing Lever any further. He wont because he will sit there like a squirmy worm and hide from his comments when a representative of the club he made the comments about is in the same room.

One thing l will say that already shows a mismanagement of the salary cap, is that we can only sign Grundy to a 3 year deal, really this guy should have a 5 year deal. Grundy, currently in the top 3 or 4 ruckman in the comp, and could be the best ruckman in the comp next year.
Yet we have Mayne sitting with a 4 yr contract!!! Buckley must see this and punch the wall. Im sure Bucks is like WTF!

The organic growth path should have been our play last year leaving massive coin available to us this year without Wells and Mayne. Instead we set ourselves back two years by not being patient. At some stage we need to bite the bullet and sit on our hands!

It does yes, but the problem is we all knew it was jumping including the players, their managers and other clubs.

As a result the managers worked the increase into a fair chunk of their players contracts (50% of the players probably have the clause). Then we have the guys who had their deals back ended (Pendles and a Treloar). Then we have the guys that came OOC this year and re-signed on bigger deals (Cox and Grundy). Lastly we have guys on smaller contracts ATM (Maynard, Phillips, Moore, Howe and JDG) who are regulars that will need bigger contracts following next year or other clubs will swoop.

Unfortunately we threw money at our problems for a few years like a contestant on The Block and it had an adverse effect on our TPP. All of White, Greenwood, Aish, Wells, Mayne and WHE were on overs contracts upon joining the club. Perfect example for me is Greenwood. He was on a deal of 1.6-1.8m over 4 years and I would be shocked if it weren't back ended. All it takes is for it to be $300k y1, $300k y2, $400k y3 and we're up to $600-800k y4 in 2018. TPP mismanagement is one of the two reasons Hine is in the gun, IMO. It's unfortunate because it's partly Gubby's fault, but either way we dropped the ball well before Gubby arrived on the scene.
