We cant trade next years first anyway can we? Otherwise that will be 4 years in a row without using a 1st round draft pick.
I really hope these rumours arent true, we do not need another intercept player.
Melbourne will be Offering a Better Trade then That

Yes its optimistic but we approach trading for stars using high end draft picks from that basis. I said approach him not reach him. As the model players that he reminds me a bit of I would say the Rance, Clement, Doull as the best top end examples. Doull like is a massive compliment as he eclipses the other two but Lever has some of those qualities. I would see him as a likely long term A grade tall backman , versatile enough to play on a number of different types, who reminds me of the 3 players I mentioned without needing to reach their absolute levels.Considering Rance will go down as one of the all time greats I think that's being a bit optimistic. My view is that Lever's a smart footballer but lacks the athleticism to get anywhere Rance's level as a player. In the unlikely event either gets near that level my money would be on Balta fwiw who is actually pretty similar now to what Race was when he started. Obviously a lot has to go right in his development as a footballer but athletically he has the traits to be a brilliant 1v1 and rebounding defending.
If it ends uo costing us 2 first rounders we may benefit in the short term, but long term we will be in trouble.Well Cats got around it by Asking the AFL to be allowed to do it.
With Eddie wanting us to make Finals next season. I would put nothing past us this Trade Period even IF it's very Stupid
Josh Thomas possibly too?Greenwood & pick 6 for Schache and pick 14?
I think if we want Lever we are well placed.
If it was purely pick 6 for Lever I'd be relatively comfortable. In my opinion, he is a KPP. He is good height, still has filling out to do and a huge leap. I think he projects as a high quality full back, with a fair bit of offensive power as well.
We could trade pick 6 for 12 + 18 and give Adelaide the 2 picks they want. In essence for us, it would be Pick 6 for Lever.
Otherwise, I think they'd consider 12 + Broomhead + Aish. Which would still leave us 18 and therefore a first round pick (albeit late).
My issue with it all is that the reported price is 850K on a 4-5 year contract. That's simply too much for a full back. I reckon only Rance and Talia are worth that much in the whole comp, and Lever is there yet.
If his contract price was more around 650K, then I'd be prepared to offer pick 6. He is still very young and a safer prospect than an untried kid. But he isn't worth 850K
I heard that The Dude is going to be Bucks' new mentor.Well thank god it's just the dude

Greenwood and 36 for 18. That would guarantee us Balta and Petty and free up cap space for Lynch next year. It gives Brisbane a midfielder and means they can spend a later pick on Ballenden instead of the 18 they'd be forced to.
I think we see see him differently as a player. I think he's got a few problems 1v1 and it would be a liability to have him playing on either quality key or small forwards. He just doesn't have the athleticism to go with the best players imo. + playing him on them diminishes the big strength of his game which is intercepting and rebounding.Yes its optimistic but we approach trading for stars using high end draft picks from that basis. Think the answer from me is Lever looks likely to approach Rance like effectiveness when in his prime.
T
That's what you'd be betting on: 25 - 30 yo Lever.
