We went the draft picks last year, and going the top up players this year, so my guess is we will go back to the draft next year. Given that, trading in to next years draft seems a smart plan.

I can see us doing a 2 picks for 1 Future pick type of trade.

With so many players coming and going we have so many options. Really exciting off season for us this year.

Sam grey and jake Neade may not even get a game next year with a healthy list.
Spp will be moved into other positions with the addition of Rockliff. We look to play 3 tall forwards next year with Robbie and chad playing mostly forward. If Motlop joins that gives less room to fit them in the 22. Who knows how much Aidan Johnson will improve this offseason with no impey driving him into other cars.

Our best 22 may not include Whesthoff, broadbent, Neade or Sam gray next year and who gets the key spots down back? Hombsch, Howard, Clurey and Jonas all best 22.

CD has mentioned that it is likely that we go into next years draft with all of our picks.

Last week was so depressing. Incredible how quickly things can change. Order is being restored to the universe.

A friend of a few of us who post here made a call in 2014 along the lines of "if we lose this I'll go across the road and jump in the Torrens after the game". We lost the game and he did NOT jump in the Torrens. From then on it appeared the club was cursed by his failure to live up to the call.
Anyway, on Saturday we all met at a friends to watch the grand final. On his way to this get together our friend stopped by the Torrens with a jar, filling it with filthy Torrens water. Pre game at the BBQ he ceremonially poured the Torrens water over his head and lifted the curse. The rest is history.
that is amazing

If Motlop was a lock with us, why the hell would he be wandering around other clubs? I like the Rockliff approach, no bull$hit just make the decision and moving along. Maybe he feels sorry for the Crows?

Rockliff met with Carlton.

Motlop and his manager are doing due diligence, nothing more.

JACK Watts poured his heart out after learning Melbourne wanted to trade him, but the club’s response only got colder.
Watts has struggled to live up the hype of being a No. 1 Draft pick and the microscope has always been focused more firmly on him than most in the league. Early reports suggested Sydney is keen on luring him north, but Mahoney dropped another depressing truth bomb by saying no other club has sounded Melbourne out about picking him up.
However, Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies said the Power was looking into attracting Watts to South Australia.
“We think we are still in with a chance. Until we are told otherwise we will continue to fight for the players we want to get into the club,” he told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

Time will tell if he comes to Port....

Not much point to pour your heart out, gee if you didn't feel or see it coming your not too sharp.

God, the slack-jawed numpties that comprise 95% of all Trade Radio callers...

Same as bigfooty.

95% of people rate their players 25 draft positions better above every one else (even ones they have bagged during the year) and other teams players 20 less.

The list managers are more realistic and then get reamed when there is a somewhat sensible trade.

This really is Christmas isnt it!
Up until Saturday late afternoon my love of Port hadn’t waned, but I felt so meh about it and 2018. Now getting good players in, players I wanted out are looking like going, Crows lost and are self-destructing too boot. It’s like ‘stop stop, I can only eat so much!’

West Coast board want to "screw us over" by offering a 4th rounder instead of a 3rd rounder for Ah Chee because they were stupid enough to draft a Port Adelaide man in Ebert several years ago.

How will we survive?

I made the mistake of trying to reason with the West Coast board re the Ebert trade a little while ago. All these years later they have this bizarre axe to grind over what was in essence a fair trade.

Port coming off a 3 win season. Have picks 6, 28 and 33 in a heavily compromised draft. Obviously not trading pick 6 (Wingard) for a player of Ebert's caliber. No players of any value to offer up. Offer of pick 28 (our priority pick for being so shit no less) eventually accepted.

In reality, with our on and off field position and the compromised draft already screwing us over, we owed the rest of the competition absolutely nothing at that point on time. We could have pulled the middle finger up at West Coast and sent Ebert to the pre season draft. But no, we did a fair trade in good faith.

The Crows of WA.

Scenario 3 holds no fear for me. Trengove won't be getting paid $600k, but even if he was, that would be base salary + match payments. He's still an AFL quality player and we certainly have the salary cap space as we won't be paying him $600k (he won't be collecting match payments). We're currently looking like we'll be finding a new home for Lobbe, there is literally zero chance we won't be able to trade out Trengove, even at a reduced rate, and recoup something of value.

The risk is minimal and the reward is significant. Force a trade imo.
We don’t need a huge return. I’d go with Bulldogs 2018 second for Trengove and our 2017 third. Get us into next years, better draft some more.

Now that's intriguing ... all the shite written about Lobbe being selfish blah blah - yet it was Kenny all along.

Yeah, let's believe the scummy player agent who negotiated such a great deal for his client and a shit deal for us.

The guy fleeced us hardcore - he's going to paint his client in the best possible light.
