Surely there's a mature age forward we can recruit rather than Crameri. VFL, SANFL, WAFL??

I love us to get Ash Close from our List but I don't think he wants to be on the AFL List

So the players we're linked too are Watts and Crameri.

While Carlton are being linked to Saad and Kennedy.

Fun.

We've also been linked to Saad and Smith. But more importantly Lynch next year. So chill winstarn!

There should be a red card on posting Facebook rumours in this thread unless they link to a genuine article.

It gets everyones knickers in a twist for no reason; and there are some real itchy rats in here during trade season that lose the plot pretty quickly*

*Although it can be quite amusing

That's what the "bulls**t watch thread" is for

Who have they picked up so far because they were also shoe ins for Rockliff 2 days ago?
Fairly sure Kennedy has actually requested to go to them.

Hine did his best work when he was just focusing on identifying talent.
I'm glad we went back to the future (or is that forward to the past?).

I agree regarding Hine. I just reckon that if we were going to bring in a list manager, it should have been someone with a background and voice that would make him be seriously listened to when making calls on players, their potential and future. I don't reckon Guy is that guy. I'm convinced that our big issue regarding list management was poorly rating the potential and longevity of the group of talls that we had on the list before Gubby did his sweep. We needed someone like Gubby to come in and clear the decks last year, but we needed him to be a better negotiator of trades and less of a cowboy in the contracts he offered to recruits. Basically, I don't trust our football department to accurately judge the guys on our list and I don't believe that Guy will have any say in that. I reckon he's been employed because they expect him to do an excellent job of negotiating trades, contracts and managing the salary cap and that's great, but I think that we needed someone who could perform the full role of list manager including having a big say in the future prospects of those on our list rather than just their contract size.

You would expect the club to look at pretty much all available players as part of their due diligence. For all we know the dogs are trying to ship Crameri to us hence the tour.

Players will nominate once trade season formerly begins and then we can go nuts or celebrate. I think we will be very quiet as we need to go to the draft and we are not a destination club at the moment and have to be patient.

Can we as supporters and members put a vote of no confidence ?

I just don't want us to do anything this period that compromises our list or draft position any further.

I think this is the most ridiculous statement I've read in some time.

Why on earth can't Watts, Shaz and Crisp play in the same team?

How many mid-sized players do you think we can fit into a team that is already struggling in both the KPP and pace departments?

(I forgot to throw Langdon I here as well for the record)

Every way I try to slice it I end up having to leave out someone I want to see getting games under their belt to fit in a bloke who (again) doesn't really offer a point of difference that meets one of our (desperate) needs and would (again) end up being on good coin over a longer term commitment.

You can only have so many mid-sized flanker / wing types and (ironically) it's now probably the one area we aren't lacking in.

This is why giving Nathan a 2yr deal was a bad move.
We needed a clean break.

Targeting players like Watts and Crameri is nothing but a shortsighted view.

List management is a ****ing mess.

How about waiting to see what happens before jumping to ridiculous conclusions

Magpies enter the ring for Watts
JACK Watts famously suffered a baptism of fire at the Magpies' hands on his AFL debut, but Collingwood is the latest club to show interest in the out-of-favour Melbourne forward.

It's understood the Magpies have enquired about Watts, who is set to depart the Demons after being put up for trade by the club.

Magpies players are believed to have contacted Watts as the 26-year-old considers his next move, having already been linked to Sydney and having met with Port Adelaide last week.

Will it happen?

  • Watts on Tuesday said he was yet to get his head around being traded by the Demons, who chose him at pick No.1 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.
  • But ... it seems almost untenable that Watts will remain at Melbourne after being so publicly placed up for grabs by the Dees, despite having two years left to run on his contract
  • His manager Paul Connors stated on Tuesday that Watts would need to consider whether he would like to "uplift" his life in Melbourne to head interstate. Would Collingwood appeal for that reason?

Think it's between us and the Swans. Could not see him going to Port

With all due respect, how could you possibly know Ned Guy isn't the guy without being privy to his resume or his pitch to the club?
