Please....PLEASE....this is beyond ridiculous. You think someone is sitting up in the stands, or at home, cascading to the umpires through an earpiece when they want free kicks paid? Really?

I dont think its out of the questiom to think a third umpire sits in a box calling frees as they occur to assist the ground umpires

Damn that Adelaide v Richmond video is a tough watch for a Crows fan. I knew we we're in trouble early in the first quarter when the umpire didn't pay that blatant hold on Lever. They don't come anymore simple than that. The hold on Betts later in the game was just laughably bad umpiring. Even the commentators called them out for that one.

That's hilarious coming from you.

My stance has always been the same. Umpire's make mistakes all the time, in a game played at breakneck speed, with lots of grey areas, with no use of slow motion replay....

Your conspiracy theory bullshit should be placed on the conspiracies board.

They aren't conspiracy theories, the umpires cheat to win games, it's right there for you to see in those videos if you could take your head out of your arse.

And that would be a long way from what you were portraying earlier.

Cheat to win games? The umps aren't playing the game, they are neutral.

Incompetence/inconsistency doesn't equal cheating.

Grand Finals used to be the best umpired games of the year but the last two GFs have seen terrible umpiring with blatant mistakes favouring fairytale teams.

It's not just incompetence, it's cheating and people are entitled to call it out.

Then piss off and stop watching. Hypocrisy at the highest order to believe that and still be interested in the sport.

The problem with discussions like this is people fixate on it being a "conspiracy".

It's no conspiracy that the AFL attempt to "maximise revenue" and it effects all of their decision making. Even the rules are altered to avoid things the AFL believes is a "bad look for the game".

When money dictates outcomes then it influences decisions at all levels of the sport. Umpiring, MRP, FA compensation, hell even the administration of drug policies, are all compromised because of these influences. The AFL have admitted in the past different players are umpired differently to protect the stars of the game. That's the influence of money.

None of this is new, the AFL have been doing this for decades. When West Coast & Brisbane were first entered into the competition the VFL, as it still was, held a national competition for supporters promoting the national game. When they were drawing the winner the first entry was from someone in Perth. The VFL didn't want a winner from Perth because they were already sensitive to criticism of expansion, so it took three draws until they got a winner from Victoria (the ABC exposed this story).

Everything the AFL can control they will control. How much evidence do people need? Ben Cousins, Stephen Dank, Judd's VISY contract, "ambassador" roles to move marque players, tanking investigations . . . the list is endless. Yet somehow people still deny it?

The AFL Commission was formed to have an independent arbitrator to govern the sport.

That "independent" body now directly runs it's own teams and indirectly controls half a dozen others through questionable financial arrangements.

The AFL Commission aren't an "independent arbitrator" as originally planned. They are now like any large company that tries to control and determine outcomes to maixmise their income.

You'd have to have your head up your arse not to see that.

How you still have access to this board, I do not know.

Look no further than the pick 19 for Motlop/Ablett fairy tale return/cover our struggling Gold Coast franchises scenario, that they just pulled out of their backside from the magic formula that they keep under lock & key..

I stated on grand final day that AFL has now officially become "sports entertainment" and belongs in the same category as wrestling.

"Fantastic. Great start boys, you're all over the Ballantyne stuff, Free kicks are looking good."

Seriously though. AFL house just like every club is an absolute siv when it comes to leaking information. People seriously think that basically everything makes its way to the public realm except for a a highly organized systematic cheating system that directs certain results via umpiring? And that when people leave the AFL and go work at club level, they just put up with this cheating and don’t raise it with anyone whilst their club gets butchered? Jesus.

So you guys think the AFL actually tells the umpires who they want to win particular games, and ultimately who they want to win the premiership.

You umpire conspiracists are ****** in the head. I'm out.

It's not like the umpires are in on it. That would never work. Certain umpires that adjudicate in a certain manner are utilised for certain games.

It works the same way in the legal judiciary. If you are connected, you get a sweetheart. If you are a no-one and have a high negative media profile, you get a hanging judge.

Look no further than Stevic & Meredith in the preliminary, who were roundly criticised for their appalling effort in the Richmond v GWS game. I mean, they completely stunk. Sure enough, the very next week both of them are appointed for the grand final. The same side (and coincidentally the marketing winner) emerged victorious under similar circumstances, AFTER the MRP had delivered it's most appalling verdict in years.

But no...........this is all just a "coincidence"

"Fantastic. Great start boys, you're all over the Ballantyne stuff, Free kicks are looking good."

What's your point? The umpire made a call on some off the ball contact from a serial offender, and the guy with the mic says "good job".

I've read all sorts of conspiracies tonight, and this one is up there.

You're not waving. You're drowning. All you have left is the tin foil hat jpg.

You honestly think if there was AFL involvement they wouldn't be trying to get the newest expansion club up there to try justify the GWS/GC franchises being a success?

It shows they go into games with preconceived plans to umpire certain teams/players differently, and that the plan is reinforced from the stands to the extent of them being praised for sticking to the pregame script even when it was a poor decision.

GWS v Adelaide would have been a marketing failure.
