Logged on and saw 14 new pages to this thread since last night. Thought Stringer must have announced early this morning but that'd more likely create 114 more pages.

I'm so over it. I'd rather take nothing at this stage, save face and deal with Jake when he gets back. If he sits out, it speaks volumes to the sort of professional he is.

If end up with draft picks and especially draft picks for next year we have lost and are acting like we are in rebuild mode
I don't believe that draft picks next year means we've lost. If Essendon offered us their 2018 first round pick, does that mean we've lost? If we end up with West Coast's 2018 first round pick, we've lost? Management of the club's talent is a long term process. Sometimes it's better to resist the new shiny thing to get something even better next year. Unless we trade Stringer for a ready made best 22 player, whatever we get for him will be highly unlikely to help us very much next year or the year after.

We should definitely be challenging in that time, it is a premiership window for us. I was all for trading out our first pick (at least) to land an established star like Hawks, Cats & Swans have all done successfully. But if we lose Stringer just to beef up next years prospects, we have taken many steps backwards even 'if' the behavioral culture improves.

Our trading culture & how we are viewed will make us still seem like minnow pushovers, 12 months ago I hoped we would be looked at as a formidable club but we are nowhere near Geelong/Hawthorn level it's embarrassing.

Agree, why strengthen a direct opponent? Make him sit out the year and let him to go North in the PSD next year. That would teach Dodoro and Connors a valuable lesson as well. Time to make a stand! Blacklist Dodoro and Connors forever!

If the net result is staying in the 1st round this year and picking up a 1st round next year while getting rid of a cancer, while sending a message to the whole list to refocus and buy in 100% again.

This is as good as it gets, we found ourselves in a shit situation and the reason Essendon are the only side to show some interest just shows how shit it's been.

We will be stronger from this, that is one thing I'm sure off.

Points are useless when it comes to drafting, would you rather pick 9 and 11 or 9 and 25 and 30. I'd rather a player in the top 11 than 2 in the 25-30 range.
Points are useful if you're going to on trade the picks though - which is what we are doing.

If we end up with 13 and WCE's first rounder in 2018 (knowing the player we want at 13 we would have taken at 9 anyway) I'm more than happy to have extra picks in a much stronger draft.

Difference between a straight swap for their first next year is we still have currency this trade period and draft.

To trade 9 and 28, we end up with 13 for this year meaning our next pick is 82. We have no way to get anything else done. Where as with 9 and 28 we could still get someone in and a decent pick

I like the idea of 2x 2018 first rounders, as long as it is likely we will not need to use one of them on West.

One of the, should be a top 10 you would expect I can't see WCE making the 8 with the outs they have. I think they will play a lot of the kids next year

So then we fill our last 2 list spots with a pick in the 80s and above and have to wait 12 months to improve our team and have another down year

I was one who actually backed the club in, trusted their public stance on stringer but they are just weak.

Every trade period this club bends over and cops it.

Just look at the crap the club has just accepted over the past few years.

Taliagate copped that on the chin and sucked it up.

Griffen to gws copped that on the chin and folded and gave up pick 6.

Media campaigns against us from Barrett and the likes not a word.

Home final moved the the mcg, no complaints, even when gws get home finals at spotless.

The fact that when we get Friday night games they are away games.

The club has zero backbone and is weak as piss and it's getting beyond a joke
Really?

How childish. 'Taliagate'.. Where is he now? What did you really want for him?

Griffen deal netted us Tom Boyd. Pick 6 that year was Caleb Marchbank who admittedly is serviceable but don't tell me you'd prefer him over the flag we won in 2016.

You want the club to get involved in squabs with the media? Really?

I'll remind you that the premiers this year had their Friday night games taken away.

Why this desperate need to do something for the sake of it?

I say do nothing- let Stringer to decide what he wants

Go to the draft as normal this year- Dal will do something good

If 2018 is good whatever we get for Stringer will be a bonus - even if we get a second rounder next year for him we will still be miles ahead of what we get for this crappy deal with Essendons crappy picks.

Why are we panicking? Club needs to get its shit together

Because failing to do anything will create the unedifying spectacle of a circus that will last 12 months. There's no way the club will countenance that. He'll go and we'll willingly eat a shit sandwich to facilitate it. Get used to the idea.

If we get west coast 1st round next year as a straight swap that is fine by me. They are saying we are getting west coast 1st this year and next year but giving up our 1st and 2nd this year as well as stringer. That is a massive massive loss and better of letting him sit out.

What are you talking about?

If we have pick 13 and (perhaps) a second rounder, they'll be our two live picks this year plus the Roarke Smith upgrade.

I agree he is gone but why didnt we just accept 11 for stringer and 28. Now it looks like we will get 13 for 28 and stringer then also lose 9 for west coasts 1st next year which is a lottery as to where they finish.

I fear you're right Norm, that sandwich is going to taste as good as it sounds

Not talking about trading talia talking about being accepting of the afls findings.

Gws had to get the deal done more than us.

The club soon released a video that addressed the medias allegations that had arguments in a list meeting and Gordon was taking control of the list management.

They performed poorly so rightfully so we preform well and only get away Friday nights where the club don't earn the $$ they should for success

Dogs out of Schache race

The Western Bulldogs have informed the Brisbane Lions they won't trade for key forward Josh Schache, The Courier Mail reports.

The 2016 premiers had inquired to find out what it would take to lure Schache back to Victoria, potentially using one of picks 25 and 30 they look set to receive from Essendon for Jake Stringer.

But the Bulldogs have since told the Lions they won’t trade for Schache.

The No.2 selection in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, who signed a two-year contract extension in June, seems increasingly likely to stay in Brisbane.

How do we get a second rounder?

The proposal is 9 and 28 to west coast along with essendons 25 and 30. We get 13 and 2018 pick not even confirmed as a first rounder. Essendon get stringer

I thought it was two second round picks? We'll have to wait for the details then. Still, one of our live picks is at 13 not both in the 80s and above.

You mean the unproven Talia claims? Right.

GWS didn't have to get the deal more than us. Griffen wanted out. That's like suggesting Essendon need to get the deal done more than we do regarding Stringer. I believe we need to get rid of Stringer because his actions and his attitude are toxic to our list. Griffen would've been the same.

We finished seventh at the end of the day mate. 7 Friday night games, 2 of which were home are not that bad..
