I dont think our list in its current state is good enough to be a threat next year. His best form is outrageous enough to make us a contender.

But I think you've touched on something that sets geelong apart.
If Fev had guys like Harley, Scarlet, Ling and Chapman around him, I reckon he would have been fine.

I thought so, Connors is starting to be backed into a corner and might need an option. I still think Essendon find a first rounder tomorrow and it gets done but if it's not done at 1pm either Connors or the Bulldogs will come and ask if we are interested i think.

Yeah he signed for 5 years in 2014 so is contracted til end 2019. 500k a year apparently.

That's not true re Lang we have offered a deal but his manager said he wants more opportunities and is concerned he won't get gametime with Ablett coming in.

I`m not sure why the doggies would need to be chasing a first rounder shouldnt it be Ess job to do that?

I find it interesting the Suns took pick 54 today unless they expect Crossley won't get bid on until very late (i think he will be bid on earlier) i can't imagine they will use 54 and i can't imagine we want it. For the young trade maybe?

They currently hold 2 21 24 26 37 and 54.
Freo obviously want 2 for Weller but GC want to trade 21 24 and matera i reckon.
Currently GC only has 2 list spots free (Hallahan Grant and Saad out and Wigg in) which would go down to 1 list spot if Ablett goes and Young and Weller come in. Be very interested to see what they do with their picks on the last day.

I think the issues are:
Wb wants one higher pick (inside 20) over 25 and 30 due to list spot issues (they don't have room for more than 2/3 picks so 25 and 30 forces them to delist an extra player).
Ess 2018 1st rnd gets it done and they can trade it but they dont want to.
WB will only take 25 and 30 if its a 3 way trade where they get a 12-20 pick and the 3rd club takes 25 and 30. They tried this with WC but it fell over.
Can they get a 3rd club like carlton or richmond to involve a 1st rounder.
Carlton need a pick between 20 and 30 for kennedy (gws list manager said that's what they want) so they can use 41 for lang. If carlton get 16 for gibbs they would do that for 25 and 30 i expect with the dogs to get 16 and 30 to gws and 41 to us. But if they get 10 and a 2018 r1 they won't do 10 for 25 and 30 imo.
The Bulldogs would take 19 and a sweetener from us if Essendon don't offer better and Stringer is willing to change his choice of club.
They don't really want to keep him but will if they don't get a top 20 pick imo.
Because of the situation with his kids he won't sit out 2018 so WB will try and salvage it.
Stringer doesn't want to change his club choice i think but might have to to get a move done unless a 3way trade is done.

Not sure what to think re Stringer if the ESS deal falls over. Could be an inspired trade or a disaster.

It's risky but for where we are in our window i would roll the dice on it but the club has more accurate info than we do.
