Maybe now ****heads in the eastern states will realise our summers aren't some arid desert heat.

Enjoy a city where the beaches are bad or packed and most people live an hour from one, the city heat adds 5-10 degrees to the usual 35...

What a bizarre hang up.
I know a lot of people in Melbourne who genuinely thought I'd never owned a pair of jeans before because 'isn't Perth really hot?'

Perth summers are mild. I've lived in inner Melbourne in January and that is painful... sitting on trams, no breeze, the heat just building on top of itself for days on end and the steel and concrete pushing it against you, and then the inevitable heap of rain and humidity.

I don't believe you.

Unless you know a disproportionate number of idiots. I've lived in NSW, WA and Vic, and have never met anyone like you described. I've never even had it come up in conversation, so unless you are trying to start a conversation along those lines, I find it very hard to believe your claim.

Melbourne summers are absurdly overhyped.

December: average of 25 with 7 days over 30.
January: average of 27 with 10 days over 30.
February: average of 26 with 2 days over 30 out of 19 so far.

They get a couple of hot days each year and carry on like the world is ending. Got to 41.7 one day in Jan which is hot anywhere then didn't reach 25 for 3 days. Two days of 40 a few weeks later followed by a week of low to mid 20s.

What a strange, strange thing to lie about though?

Yeah Perth you almost always get the sea breeze in so it rarely gets super hot at least for long.

A few areas are like that. Anywhere that has a significant percentage of houses built from the 1960s through to the 1980s generally looks dated and tacky. A street full of 1950s bungalows generally looks a lot better than a street full of 1960s brick and tile duplexes that look like they were designed by the Soviets.

There's also a few vulgar displays of wealth along the riverfront. The sort of places you'd expect the slappers from 'Real Housewives of wherever' to live.

Nah that's obvious. I'm talking houses that were quite clearly built in the last 20 years.

Check this place out.

Yes that's oversized limestone bricks with 500 tonnes of wrought iron.

Or this one..

Or how about this one? Yes that's a garage and the owners clearly didn't gaf how it looks (ridiculous) as long as their caravan/boat/Winnebago could fit into it.

Morley..

Well they generally look pretty ordinary when new anyway but I reckon the standard cheaply built 4 x 2s that you see everywhere for about the last 15 years will age really badly. Shithouse build quality as well of course.

Why is the 4WD trying to park in the front doorway?

The Langoulant findings on jobs for the boys by the Barnett Government is a little startling. Heard Liza Harvey faffing about on ABC Radio this morning trying to explain where the millions for a Western Force initiative went. That one has gone to the CCC.

The West Australian newspaper is all over it...some 6 pages in with a huge story on the front page about some poor seating at the new stadium. Wouldn't wipe your arse that publication.

You realise how impractical a lot of those houses down on the river are too. Just too big. Like 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for example. Unless you are leasing it out for accomodation what are you going to use that for.
