Let’s not devolve into conspiracy theories like another certain board I won’t mention. There could have easily been 5k scattered about the ground standing under cover, out of view from the cameras, especially given the intensity of the sun. I hate sitting in full sun like that and would have sought shelter... which is also conveniently nearer the bars.

Also, realistically, Port have done pretty well since the Adelaide Oval move. Average home attendances have seen them 4th, 4th, 4th and 6th for average home crowds. Only big clubs like Richmond, Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton and Adelaide have recorded higher average attendances in that time.

Don’t get me wrong. Bugger Port. They sure do suck. I dislike them. But they do ok crowd wise... they’re just not a big club like we are

And they will drop down another two places with the WA clubs having a bigger stadium.

Sure, yours is great in comparison, but how many times did we hear in 2014 that you had overtaken us as the biggest team in the state.

They gave up the right to be judged by Saints/North/Bulldogs standards when they had a decent year, made sure everybody knew about it and massively got ahead of themselves.

On the topic of Port's crowd, there was no way was 36k there yesterday.

Ironic how they're always quick to claim that our club fudges crowd numbers, but yesterday was one of the first times that I have genuinely thought that the attendance at Adelaide Oval had been falsely inflated.

There weren't just empty seats yesterday, there were whole rows that were empty and the crowd on the hill was very sparse, to me it was noticeably smaller than their game against Freo yet the crowds were apparently almost identical?

I don't buy it for a second.

I reckon it was under 30k there and they have deliberately fudged the numbers to avoid having the spotlight put on them about why their crowds are so poor after all the pre-season hype for the recruits and being undefeated etc
