Just to change things around a bit, I think you guys need to actually get some good leaders to the club and that would mean taking a bit of a hit with your salary cap and how you use it.

Gold Coast imo are probably better off with Lynch leaving and taking the compo pick and using the pick along with your own pick to get 2/3 top end kids and also getting a couple of really good players that cant get a game at their clubs due to depth or position for a very little trade like Miles/Lloyd from richmond or there may be others at other clubs that may suit better.

Use the extra salary cap space to sure up the kids you currently have at the club then hit the free agency next year to get the 25-27 year old elite players to come across.

North as an example went after Higgins & Waite that have been brilliant for them, With GC it just looks like you guys are always going for cheap as chips players or just taking the high end draft picks but hardly any true leaders that build culture at the club.

I could suggest say a player like Jack Riewoldt and Alex Rance or even Trent Cotchin but every GC person on your board would say Nahhh they are past it and will be over 30 etc etc But Jarrod Waite is nearly 35 and looks like he will play another year. Luke Hodge has also been brilliant at Brisbane as well as Sam Mitchell for 1 year at West Coast and look how things change.

Gold Coast just bring in average players on the cheap or Highly talented kids that are not proven and not sure they will stay , Need to bring quality people that want to build the culture of the club.
That's where you're wrong again my friend Suns have to pay huge overs just to get the average players.
The Suns have to sell the farm to go after an A-B grader from a vic club but when a vic club wants one from us they offer up some list cloggers the system is broken atm we have just been a feeder club for the big Melbourne clubs in the past few years.

That's why the academy's are so important

Martin leaving wouldn't have made a difference and cost your club anything. You have over 90,000 members and are a powerhouse in the AFL. A struggling club both on and off the field such as Gold Coast who only has 10,000 members cannot afford to lose their captain and A grader in Lynch. I could not care less we aren't in the running we don't need him and even if we were chasing him I would prefer he stayed at the Gold Coast and helped the struggling side.

I dont see how lynch makes it to the tigers without them gutting a premiership list. Martin is on huge coim, cotchin, riewoldt, rance, caddy, prestia would all be on very good coin. No way can they pay 2 players in martin and lynch the best part of 3 million

Oh but, but, but... they won't have Griffiths on their list next year!!!!

Martin is on $1.1m. Lynch won't get more than that. We frontloaded the big contracts. We can afford him no probs.

He is not on 1.1 .

It was made clear in Dusty's interview on the footy show that he signed with us on 1.1.

Plus whatever PUMA and Bonds are paying him.

Wow coming from a swans supporter -

That was closer to two million than 3. We also let go of mumford

'Let go of'?.....More like your salary cap squeezed him out forcibly.

Fancy prioritizing Tippett over Mumford.....Yeowch.....Cost you that 2016 premiership for mine.

They're going to do a hatchet job on the bloke that should have won the Norm Smith, aren't they?

That should free up ~$400K.

My interest in a Lynch-Richmond scenario is how he fits in the seagull football game plan. I can't see them maximising his talent, so I don't really get why they would max out the cap on the bloke.

Is that the reason why you lowballed Dusty at the beginning of last year?
If you call offering 5x800k lowballing.

Let it go Teffy, the Tigers won the Flag.

You talk up North all the time but the fact is they have not won anything for over 20 years. The way you crap on about North while putting down sides that actually have won a Premiership, is embarrassing.

Your post is self explanatory

Beginning of last year Dustin Martin's Value was $800k and thats what he was offered , That is hardly 'Low Balling'

The year he had was probably the best year any player has had in the history of the game winning just about everything possible combined with Free Agency and another club prepared to sell their home all combined to get him an extra $300k.

He is the Joke around these parts with nil Credibility - Most just either ignore or laugh at him these days

His biggest Claim was the week prior to the finals claiming North has a better list than Richmond then backed it up grand final week

North Melbourne are a struggling club but snake is struggling even worse
