That's where you're wrong again my friend Suns have to pay huge overs just to get the average players.Just to change things around a bit, I think you guys need to actually get some good leaders to the club and that would mean taking a bit of a hit with your salary cap and how you use it.
Gold Coast imo are probably better off with Lynch leaving and taking the compo pick and using the pick along with your own pick to get 2/3 top end kids and also getting a couple of really good players that cant get a game at their clubs due to depth or position for a very little trade like Miles/Lloyd from richmond or there may be others at other clubs that may suit better.
Use the extra salary cap space to sure up the kids you currently have at the club then hit the free agency next year to get the 25-27 year old elite players to come across.
North as an example went after Higgins & Waite that have been brilliant for them, With GC it just looks like you guys are always going for cheap as chips players or just taking the high end draft picks but hardly any true leaders that build culture at the club.
I could suggest say a player like Jack Riewoldt and Alex Rance or even Trent Cotchin but every GC person on your board would say Nahhh they are past it and will be over 30 etc etc But Jarrod Waite is nearly 35 and looks like he will play another year. Luke Hodge has also been brilliant at Brisbane as well as Sam Mitchell for 1 year at West Coast and look how things change.
Gold Coast just bring in average players on the cheap or Highly talented kids that are not proven and not sure they will stay , Need to bring quality people that want to build the culture of the club.
The Suns have to sell the farm to go after an A-B grader from a vic club but when a vic club wants one from us they offer up some list cloggers the system is broken atm we have just been a feeder club for the big Melbourne clubs in the past few years.
That's why the academy's are so important
