Our 2019 1st isn't change mate. Could very well be pick #1 again.

If we were to finish last in 2019 you may as well stick a fork in the Carlton Football Club. The rebuild will have been deemed a failure, the coach will probably be gone, no decent FA would want to join us and we would be looking at starting all over again.

Next year needs to be quite a bit better than this year.

Leave aside Shiel for the moment. If we have 1 and Gold Coast have 2 & 3 (for losing Lynch) they will be absolutely desperate to get a Lynch replacement (Lukosios) whereas in terms of need we want mids and small forwards. They also have 3 firsts, 2 seconds and three thirds from memory,

We have an unspoken understanding that they are going to take Lukosios. We swap pick 1 for pick 2 and ?? another pick (maybe their second @20) or if they are desperate enough 2 and Ainsworth. We pick the best mid and walk away laughing.

Or we keep pick 1 and select someone not named Jack Lukosius. Saves all the dicking around.

It still wouldn't excuse finishing dead last, there has to be improvement.

I agree...casboult will never become like the others.....did he take the best defender last week? Also if he converted 1-2 of the 3 shots then game would have been a lot closer..his kicking needs to be very good to compliment his marking ability and for him to become a valuable forward

Which releases the pressure on others, I would think it's pretty obvious why he is there at this point in time.

I don't get excited by the first pick but if that's what comes with shitness it helps keep me going - don't drool about it like I did with 3,4 & 8 though

By all reports and the way posters are describing Luko he sounds like the same type of FWD as Charlie which imo is not good for team structure, game plan, balance.

Levi is what he is. Best attribute, contested marks. If we had better delivery into the forward 50, he would take even more.

He is just inept when the ball hits the ground

He doesn't need to be anything more than contested marks and a ruck chop out. A quality third tall forward is a must for us to pair with Levi and Charlie. Its why I say we should get Mitch McGovern if we can. He would be ideal to pair with them. Desperate to get out of the Crows apparently.
