Number 12 on your list, I have thought that this was our Achilles heel with Bolton, he needs an older wiser head next to him to navigate through all the issues, I feel there is only one person that could fill this position and that is Mark Williams, I say this in regards to the legacy he left at Richmond with all the young players.

Adelaide would need to give us their 1st round pick + Sloane compo. For starters.
However those picks will be around the 10 mark, i think we need a top 5 pick.
The trouble with holding out for a top 5 pick is that GC are the best placed of the clubs that have the top 5 picks as things currently stand.
They currently have 2, 16. 25, 30, 40, 42.
Our problem is that we have 2 picks in the 20's but nothing after that until pick 66.
We have 1, 23, 26.
So that means that we will either have to take a good deal from Adelaide (they currently have 8, 13, 19, 37 + possible Sloane compo pick), or hope that another club does a deal with Adelaide for one of their picks, eg M. McGovern to Freo for some kind of deal that includes pick 6, then have that pick on-traded to us. Personally, I don't think that pick 6 is enough unless either the other sweeteners are sensational, or we can use whatever picks we get along with that highest pick to get established players.
St Kilda have pick 4 and then no 2nd round pick, so that counts them out.
Brisbane have 3, 20, 38.
So unless we take 8 and 13 (or Sloane pick) and maybe a player, then it looks like we will have to see some wheeling and dealing from other clubs before we part with pick 1.
Picks 8 and 13 could still be used to our advantage if we try and package them up to get a higher draft pick and a player though.
Whatever way it turns out I don't see Adelaide getting their hands on pick 1 easily and I also think that one of the picks would be used to get a gun mid from elsewhere, Shiel or otherwise.

You might be on to something there Ray. I wish Parkin was younger.. he would have been ideal.

I’m ok not getting a PP as long as bears and suns dont get one...and any other team ever moving forward, because if 25 wins in 5 years doesn’t get you a pick then the only way I envisage a club getting one is via a disaster such as terrorist attack or plane crash

Not even then, I don't think... the most recent examples are John McCarthy at Port in 2012 (which happened before the season had even finished), and Troy Broadbridge at Melbourne in 2004 (Boxing Day). Neither club received special dispensation as far as I can remember; in fact, my vague memory of the Broadbridge situation was that Melbourne were quite restricted in terms of how they could fill his list spot. There might have been some technicality that barred Melbourne from accessing players left over from the 2004 draft pools? They took Shannon Motlop in the end, and he had already been 12 months out of the AFL at the time.

I suppose it's a reminder that no matter how depressing we are on-field, things could be worse...

Heard from a freo supporting friend that Fyfe had gotten into the ear of Cripps before and after the game against them trying to convince him to head to Freo for a chance to play in the midfield with him.

I heard from a Blues fan (me) that Cripps asked him to come to us, they then made a remark about the weather.

Why is everyone worried about a priority pick now?

We ask for one AFTER the season is over!

For all we know, as unlikely as it is, we beat the scum next week and then Gold Coast the week after. Possibly cause a few upsets late in the year.

If not, it will be sorted after the season is done.
I think this was supposed to be the original message from Liddle. "It's too early for us to even think about pp. Were not asking the AFL about pp."

In a way it's turned some of our biggest media enemies into rivals advocating us getting a pp, where previously they would have been in the polar opposite camp

Good point....if we can believe tom brown (and I haven't misinterpreted what he said) he says we would have needed to make application....afl does not offer it otherwise
There is an article in the Age tonight and it says "The AFL confirmed to Fairfax Media, however, that a club would have to make an application before they would consider granting a Priority Pick."
End of story, the club has to apply.
