The only danger with front ending is if players either retire or are traded out prior to the end of the contract. You end up paying them a lot more for one year of service.

Not directly, but it might be possible to structure the reverse situation to what GWS does.

Over the last few years, they have been flush with talent but tight on space. From what I have read, their strategy is to trade overs in talent if they can get the other side to agree to wear some of the salary of the incoming player. This effectively trades talent for salary cap space.

We could just try to do the reverse.

As I said a week or so ago, they will NOT back down from their earlier strategy when we got jaeger. It will be the same names thrown at us, Breust, gunston , Shiels and Smith .
This doesn’t mean Lynch has told them where he’s going though, they don’t know, so they’re just gonna talk a pre-trade negotiations with all three clubs to cover all angles.
Why they can’t just accept compo pick is mind boggling!
