That’s a bit of an unfair paraphrasing of what we said.I'm mystified there is a perception Luko is not a need. He is a screaming need.
Both Jenkins and Walker are the wrong side of 25 with Walker playing injured, Lynch isn't a key forward, McGovern is injury prone and may be flight risk anyway.
We have Fogarty and Himmelberg - that's it. With our primary long term KPF players getting on, surely 3 developing tall forwards is a minimum on your list
Wasn’t he traded for like a 24th round draft pick?Sam Mitchell

No-one saying we wouldn’t want a key forward likened to Nick Riewoldt in the side, we’re not insane. We are just saying the cost to get him will end up being exceptionally high, especially when we have 4 tall forwards in the side and 2 developing in the SANFL.
The cost to get a Rankine is substantially lower and with the lack of Xfactor outside players on the list would likely get a game right now for us.

If Lukosius is there at whatever pick ends up being our 1st he'll be a Crow without a single, solitary doubt unless Hamish changes his Draft mantra of taking the best available talent.
What about FOG and Himmelberg?Personnelly for me Gov go's to the backline to play a role similar to his brother. Luko and Lynch play high Jenkins & Tex play closer to goal with Eddie and Murphy. Or something along those lines
And so they should take him if he is still on the board at that 1st pick and id be increadibly bloody stoked if that happens... if he miraculously slides to our first pick then it would be the single biggest steal in the draft’s history.
But it still doesnt answer my question.. who out of lynch, tex, JJ and mcgovern moves aside for lukosious to play in the crows forward line next season?.
So... we either get the biggest draft steal in history or we give up a shiteload to get a pick (1 or 2) that gets us in the lukosious range.. and my personal preference is that we dont give up a shiteload to get a bloke that we cant find a spot for in our current forward line!..
I know there is a bucketload of sarcasm in this but it scares me a 'once in a generation player' could be in the SANFLYou don't. Luko can develop in the SANFL - that's our way!

He doesn't have to play in our forward line initially ... he could be a winger, roaming attacking midfielder, ... but hopefully he'll be with us for the next 10-12 years and take over when Tex, JJ, etc retire, or he pushes out one of them. Would be insane! And so they should take him if he is still on the board at that 1st pick and id be increadibly bloody stoked if that happens... if he miraculously slides to our first pick then it would be the single biggest steal in the draft’s history.

Sydney would want out of his contract because he's cooked. Not going to cut the mustard with Sydney..Hannebury is contracted till 2021 - why would they accept pick 19. A reworking of that deal is as follows and might be a better fit
Crows: Pick 5 for Picks 12 (Melb 1st) & Pick 19
Swans: Pick 12 (+cap relief)
STK: Pick 19 & Hannas
I would hazard a guess as to that's why we upped our offer to Lynch. Reid will have been working all year with the bottom 4 clubs sniffing out if they're willing to trade and what they want if they are.No-one is doubting his talent. It’s the cost that people don’t want to get on board with. Sure if he was getable at a reasonable cost go and get him, but it’s all about what you perceive as reasonable.
Schache.Sam Mitchell
I'm actually coming around to the idea of trading McGovern. But I wouldn't do it for a pick swap, it would have to be a standalone trade.Trade McGovern and Lynch.
Like what?I'm actually coming around to the idea of trading McGovern. But I wouldn't do it for a pick swap, it would have to be a standalone trade.
Depends, there will most likely be plenty of traffic in and out of Western Australia, with Gaff maybe leaving and Kelly probably heading back. We might be best to await a particularly 1 sided value discrepancy and see if we can't squeeze our way into some tasty little 3rd party deal.Like what?

Curious where, apart from this board, the idea that Kelly wants to move back to Melbourne has come from?Depends, there will most likely be plenty of traffic in and out of Western Australia, with Gaff maybe leaving and Kelly probably heading back. Sorry I should have specified, I was referred too Tim Kelly back to WA. I can see how that would be confusing!Curious where, apart from this board, the idea that Kelly wants to move back to Melbourne has come from?
Actually, in hindsight I didn’t read it allSorry I should have specified, I was referred too Tim Kelly back to WA. I can see how that would be confusing!
