If we are harboring serious thoughts about trading up to secure either Lukosius or Rankine, we had better be careful if polec leaves as i think North will cough up their 1st to get him and if they get that, they might be in a position to trade up with Gold Coast and remember Dew has strong port links. It would make me sick to the core if somehow they ended up with either Lukosius or Rankine and we ended up with Neither. I hope the boys in our drafting and trading department have give serious thought to the flogs down the road coming in and cutting our lunch
North will probably finish above us

When it was announced on seven tonight about polec. What's his name was choking on his words

Bizzare.

Yeah..with the dogs and saints to come with us in between, even if we win out, they will win those 2 and finish on % above us...unless we happen to beat Carlton by 200 odd points

However..what is stopping them bundling up that pick + their pick and their 2019 1st or a player and go to GC for pick 2. With just 1 st rounder this year and in the teens, unless they offloaded another decent player they would struggle for the currency, but if Polec leaves....

Nothing. I hope GCS would want to hold on to their pick 2. Trades for high picks seem to be pretty rare these days though.

That was the worry about Wines not re-signing. Does potentially start a bidding war between us & Poots for a pick from Carl, GC, Saints ... whoever is open to trading a low pick - might well come down to how much either club are willing to spend.

Out of Watts, Motlop, Rockliff and Polec who would you prefer to keep? For me it would be Polec. So when I read Port supporters saying they would only pay Polec $500k I’ve got to laugh. All of those other players are on more than that.

Motlop is definitely on 650k+ because of the compo pick that Geelong received, Rockliff is on 700k, Melbourne are paying 15% of Watts' deal but it is most probably above 500k.

You would think that if Port were to get their offer up to the 750k mark that he will most probably stay and when you look at what Motlop, Rocky etc are getting then his value is definitely around that mark especially on his form this year.

Seems like madness that they are lowballing Polec who I am guessing they just expected would stay by default. Unless they have already promised money to someone else and now Polec has thrown a massive spanner in the works.

Throw in Ryder, Dixon, Gray, Wines, Wingard and Boak, surely they’ve run out of cap and that’s why they can’t pay him more.

From what I’ve seen of Port this year, he’d be sitting in the top five of their best and fairest... potentially top three. I think he’s had a great year and he’d be a massive loss... It obviously puts a massive dent in their “amazing club who everybody wants to play for” routine, but still, if they turn him into cap space and a top ten draft pick, then they might not feel so sorry to let him go.

That club down the road has shown over the years they are not afraid to trade out to get what they want...will we do the same (if we really want particular players in this draft)?..and what about live trading? if that is in then they could gazump us on the night if they hold multiple picks

I suppose I am just wary as to why they seem to not value polec (if the reports are true) as he is one of their better players. I sense a bigger picture scenario from them here

Rockliff every day of the week..they just are not using him quite right. He is the guy that shpuld allow gray to play forward most of the time. Rockliff is not a forward

Rockliff is as slow as Thompson was for us last year, I saw Yolmen "sprint" pass him in the Showdown for the ball.....a huge liability in today's team defence.

No chance, Rockliff is past his best, they have an abundance of inside mids and Polec is the only decent outside runner they have. Besides isn’t Rockliff playing mid now?

Poort Pear have played their best football in recent years when Polec is playing well. When in form he is one of the best outside mids in the AFL (despite having a face that you would love to Gaff).

The best scenario for us would be for Poort to be forced to pay $800k a year. They seem to be building an arsenal of big arsed slowish inside mids. Long may it last.

Or they are paying Ollie a lot more - perhaps the decision was Ollie or Jared?

Took a look at the Score Review on the PAPs board - **** me dead - saw the first 7 pages and thought I can’t do this.
Yep, it’s a shitfest of lies, utter delusion, and enough salt to put Siberian salt mines out of business.

And it’s delicious!

It's probably just their lead up narrative. So when he re-signs they can say their world leading, family orientated, best culture, world patent leading, can't do no wrong, always the victim...club was so good that they can change any players mind to stay...
That is Port’s and M Rucci’s MO. It’s so obvious it’s laughable.

Gaff will get his punishment amd it will be severe... The afl dont want to look soft and will want to make a statement ...

This whole thing is a bit overblown tbh. ..

Onfield incident . .. Lets just move on.

Any chance we could recruit gaff? Id love for one of our boys to show some aggression ... Its a pity the only player we got that does it is a 1st year player.

I expect if Gaff was a superstar player for a big VIC club he’d be back for finals.
It’s sad that the AFL is so manipulative of situations I am thinking this way.
