Trade 1 for 3 & 9
Walsh with 3, Cerra for 9+28 =
1+28 for Walsh & Cerra
If you know no one is gonna take Walsh with one and two it could work little risky ..and not that easy turning one into three and nine ..gotta get lucky

Reid was Gibbs manager and negotiated his last contract with Carlton immediately prior to becoming Adelaide's list manager. Adelaide knew exactly what the structure of Gibbs contract was
I'm pretty sure that's illegal. You're using IP gained through a prior job's relationship with an organisation against that organisation for your own gain.

Any lawyers in the thread want to confirm/disagree?

It would be, but the info would have been disclosed to all parties in the early part of negotiations so there’s been no breach of trust/privacy.
Reid would be using info that Adelaide already knew. Gibbs’s CFC contract would have been discussed at length and in detail with Adelaide with Gibbs approval

Take him court. Ned Guy is now Collingwood's list manager.

Gov coming across will hinge on getting a first round PP or Adelaide moving up the draft order elsewhere.
Cheers for the tidbit, tcp. So that means we're valuing him (or the trade is likely to be for) around a mid-late first rounder?

It'll probably end up being a Charlie Cameron-type deal tbh... who went for 12 - overs, but was circumstantial.

He isn't being looked at in isolation like that. Basically we want Walsh, Adelaide want pick #1.

Yes. That's why I think it will all get too hard and ultimately not worthwhile.

I'd be disappointed should we receive a mid-range PP and handed it over cleanly for McGovern. Don't do it SOS :)

A few thoughts...

We need Pick 1 for Sam Walsh.

Quite confident we aren’t getting a pre-first round priority pick. I believe it will be mid-first round.

McGovern is a great get. There (was) another Victorian team in the mix but you can basically lock it in. JSOS? Kerr? Please, stop. McGovern is 50x better than any of those names.

McGovern’s value is much closer to a mid-first round (& even end-of-first round) PP than Pick 1, so that would be the starting point. Once you start talking Pick 1, it becomes the most valuable asset (by far) in the trade. It then becomes less a case of us trading for McGovern and more a case of Adelaide trading for Pick 1. Then, the same principle applies - it will take an unprecedented bounty to prise Walsh from SOS’ grasp. We aren’t Gold Coast.

2019 1st is in play to get deals done. Very valuable asset.

So McGovern, Cerra and Brodie all warrant first round picks but Shiell (All Australian Midfielder) is not good enough or important enough (Midfield Is our biggest issue) for us to trade for?

If GWS want to do the Shiell trade this year we get it done.

We need experience quality mids asap.

Not as a free agent next season. A first round draft pick in a strong side to a bottom team is worth a lot more spent of elite talented youth than it is for having a good player for one season. If we were challenging next year then yes, but we aren't. Shiel is a very good player but he's not top tier, he'll be a good contributor but won't be turning games on their heads.

If we send pick/s their way then something else needs to be involved. Perhaps one of their future picks, something like that.

Using an early pick on a player now is the kind of impatient move that down the track you look back at when you've lost a premiership and sight that for the reason.

I think that either way Shiel plays with Carlton in 2020, let's not wast a top pick. Premierships are won by having as many elite talented players as you can get, not by individuals. We're playing a numbers game and getting the numbers of elite talent up is more important than this.

If we could reel in Walsh & Shiel in the one hit, we will have done very well getting our midfield in some sort of shape for the not-too-distant future.
There will be other 'wins' along the ay but this is what I'll be most happy for, should it come about.

That 2019 1st for Shiel would be brilliant and if we received the ~#12PP along with the two second rounders we hold.......happy days begin.

Yaas thanks for the good word, TRP.

:whitecheck: McGovern all but locked in and unlikely to lose pick 1 in the deal
:whitecheck: #WalshIsOurMan
:whitecheck: 2019 in play - likely for Shiel etc rather than this year's

TheRedPill This is just between you, me and SOS.

SOS tells Adelaide they can have Lukosius under the following conditions:
a. Adelaide have to orchestrate acquiring the pick #4
b. Adelaide have to work with us in ensuring GC do not take Walsh with #2 or #3
c. Adelaide then give us #4 and McGovern for our 1st. Easy :)

Much too hard. I just don't see how we'll get what we want and GC ultimately end up with Lukosius & Rankine.
We'd be far better off working with Gold Coast if they're not clued in as to who we want with the #1.
