Hey what is this increased confidence that Melbourne now is 'certain' to get Gaff, according to some he was 'signed months ago'. Troll or with some credibility? Anyone on the inners can comment about this? Why all of a sudden melbourne got int he act. Yesterday i read the bummer crew got their tails up again. Today on SEN 1116, at 5:15, it was said gaff is 'good chance to come to north' and according to one of the mates of the radio commentator, he is almost definitely joining north.

There is a Melbourne poster who swears blind he has the inside run on this information, I sense he's genuine in his belief and not trolling but at the same time there was a prominent Saints poster who swore blind on his sources about Kelly last season and of course we had a certain poster/lovely bloke who even had a signed North guernsey. Who knows... maybe it was Melbourne early on before we put our bid in.

What I do know is there is plenty of smoke now about Gaff to North. We never had that last year with Dusty or Kelly, the whole time we were told they were expected to re-sign and in the end they did. I also know that there is never ever a surprise in these things unless it's an absolutely covert, last minute and quick move like Buddy to the Swans. Every club has its loose lips and player managers don't miss the opportunity to create interest among many clubs to create a bidding war. If the media line right now is it's North or West Coast then at this moment it is just that. If Hawthorn or Melbourne or Essendon are in the game they would be known entities now, not BigFooty posters starting whispers about a player meeting Bombers players here or Clarkson there.

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but is there a minimum number of picks clubs need to use at the draft? Just thinking about the potential in flow of players during trade period, and the subsequent number of players we may need to delist/trade to meet the minimum number of draftees (if there is one)

Given that we're going to have to create list space for relevant picks and likely need to use multiple picks for the points balance of Thomas and maybe Scott I can see us upgrading Zurhaar and Murphy.

It would mean we'd have 5.

The draft minimum won't be a concern.

I can remember someone informing me that neither are required to be upgraded, even though it would appear inevitable in Zurhaars case, so I suspect this year the club will leave them on the rookie list.

Waitey is out the door and if rumors of Preuss are true that makes two, which leaves another 4 spots to be decided if Gaff, Polec, Hall + TT, Scott & Crocks are coming in.

I reckon we will trade Durdin.

RE: rookie list, we can definitely leave Murphy there as it would be his 2nd season. I think with Zurhaar we would need his permission.

Another edit: if we were to upgrade them, they count as a drafted player i.e. use points for Thomas, upgrade TM and CZ = made the three draft selections required.

I can't see it fazing Cam considering we have contracted him beyond next year.
