Neale an out and out champ. Brisbane has done well here. Freo has lost its best midfielder.

Hogan will straighten up its forward line but, as is oft said, the mids are the jewels in the crown. Now that I think of it, forget the ‘oft said’ and replace it with something else.

I'd argue though that they're ahead of us by the sheer volume of talent they have gotten over the last few seasons, regardless of the fact that they do seem to haemorrhage a bit every off season. they've certainly hit on more picks than Carlton have in the last 5 seasons!

I think we have more and better young talent but they are 1-2 years ahead in development and have a better group of mature players at the moment. They are doing well.

Knew Bell was just playing the long game. It’s basically what they would have done the other day.

Difference being, that had he made the deal the other day, Freo would have lost leverage on their asking price for LN. If my understanding on what they got for LN is correct, then Bell did well; they got 2 firsts and a third for LN and a second. That's a great result for Freo if correct.

Brisbane are going to be the real deal in a couple of years, what makes them more attractive than Carlton though

Good planning, allow 4 clubs squabble over the most obvious whilst they sneak around behind the scenes and nab their target who is also a great get.

Where are they going to find the overs though? Surely they may have to trade out someone of decent quality to find a pick better than 34... unless they go 9 and next year's first rounder? But it seems like GWS want picks this year?

I respect Bell, i think he'll be good for Freo.

Seems to know what he's doing and is tough but fair. I like that he put Bennell on notice, it was needed.

Then he stood up under pressure in the trade period and got Freo a good outcome.

Tall forwards set, they just need to replenish their midfield though given no Neale and Mundy retiring soon. But they still have Fyfe, Hill brothers, Cerra, Brayshaw etc
