Now you are really hitting your straps. Let me remind you that you are melting over your own inability to ignore website content. I don't think you are the tough alpha you want to be.

Just comment about footy, and leave your anti women rants to Andrew Bolts blog comments.
The only person melting here is you. You're getting all emotional dude.

Just goes to show how brainwashed the left are these days if you've mistaken my concerns for an anti-women rant. :drunk:

Maybe take our own advice.

Nakia wasn't saying there's anything wrong with the womens footy. It wasn't about that.
I guess I'm different cause I never look at GFC website (why would you), and unless I've bought something off Ebay never check my emails.
I reckon it's good, It's free and can sit where you want (even the social club I think),
It's a free Geelong thing on TV which is cool if you don't like cricket or soccer.

Free piss and it would be perfect.

There's room for both. Of course the men's comp is the more popular by far but I'm enjoying the women's comp as well.
So you've answered your own question.

Not sure why we're denigrating/defending women's football in this thread.
The right-wing males can whinge all they want...it's here, and it ain't going away.

What type of comment?

Can I ask why you think that anything derogatory has to come from Right Wing Male?
In this modern era of gender denial ..there would be plenty of comments that do not like the idea of a comp that has a W on it.

I think that the comp is strong enough to have more than just fluff comments about it. Keep it factual and I see no problem with that. If its taste then its no different to plenty of style comments on the mens game.

Did I infer that they were equal? I merely bristled at the notion that it’s not a “real” competition and thus not worthy of respect. I have mad respect for how our female players often have to juggle day jobs with big training loads and get paid peanuts to do it. It’s a different type of respect, sure.

That's where the distinction is. Do they deserve respect for playing the sport? Sure. Absolutely. And every opportunity to develop and improve, which will happen over time. But in February 2019, do they deserve as much respect as a competition? I'd say no way. For the same reason the VFL isn't as respected.

AFLW is just to keep the lefties happy.

It's a dumb idea, women aren't designed for high level contact sport.

It'll just be another money pit like GC and GWS.

Even worse will be the token female commentators/boundary riders in every AFL game.

*I have nothing against females playing AFL at a low level or some commentating games based on merit.

Firstly I have no issue with you expressing you view. Disagreement that we can debate is somehow lost on some that feel anything that contrdicts their beliefs should be shut down.

I disagree that its only to keep lefties happy.. plenty of support for more women in sport . Its a trend in more than just afl.. and we will have to see if its sustainable.. but I see no reason why if we have young girls who love the game and grow up with it can play it to the highest level possible. There will always been a gap between mens and womens... if we take Tennis as a sport.. there has been plenty of youth development and being new to the sport is no excuse. Still women have alwasy been an important part in sport and who knows how many boys in the future will be guided into playing becuase their mum used to play...

Money pit like... No not like. I very much doubt there would be many crowds at GWS of 18,000? Maybe not even for the men. There is support for the sport here..and male or female the support is questionable in NSW

Token?... which commentators arn't? Plenty of men on the mens game bring little.

I do get your vibe though..the world has become so pc. Even you mention AFL at a lower level? Really? The way "AFL" has come to represent the sport is annoyance. I get far more anoyed with things like the pink day in the mens comp than seeing the girls go round. Where is a blue round for prostate cancer that kills more men than women die of BC? ... but Im for the girls and we have subsidise them for a while.. so be it.

Have no issue with females playing more sport, just that AFL is very rough on the body and as such females get many more serious injuries than men. If it wasn't for 5 or 10 times more ACLs I wouldn't care.

The female crowds are inflated because the games are free and there is a huge amount of marketing. Who is paying for these "free" games and for the players?

Most male commentators are rubbish but they aren't part of a gender quota.

I can agree with most of that. It hurts me to see them getting hurt in a way... certainly when two girls went down in q3 yesterday ..I thought..this is not a good look. ..but I guess im a bit of a libertarian in a way. No one is making them do it. They certainly are not getting paid a fortune to influence them. ..again we should not try to hide the true facts ..its not something that should be.."ohh dont say women may be more inclined to get injured more its not very palaitable etc." If the facts say its so then say it..do not change facts because they are uncomfortable... but girls want to play and they will get injured playing lots of sports . Have you any figures on netball knees and ankles..they certain get hurt in that.

The aflw crowds are inflated for multiple reasons. Whats size crowd would they get thru the normal season ..probably similar to the vflw. So their window , although not ideal for weather , is a god time for them. yes its free..yes its subsidised... id dont have a problem with that. lets see what the cost are in 5 to 10 years time. Its a business start up ..and to some degree its a promotion like advertising. How much does that cost. The afl are media hogs. They love having their product in the papers..so to have a product which can deflect from cricket or whatever..in their mind probably money well spent. What id also like is that the PS comp.. lead into a mini series mid year. The afl boys are always screaming for time off... if a small window can be found in the years to come for somewhere for a "play off series" then that might be a financial atractive product. Early days and their product needs to be more polished ..im sure even the girls would say they have plenty to work on.

My only bugbear with the girl commentators is when they get too jargonistic ..as if to prove they know the game so they throw in all the modern terms..which most of the time I hate when the men do it. I guess i prefer it too when they are no frightened to call a player out.. not everything they do is a great bit of play.

Gee...better stop girls playing netball then...a game with a massive preponderance of knee trauma....

Better stop them cooking too....kitchens are way too dangerous....

Yep can get injured driving a car or whatever... the girls just need facts and then be left to make their own choices. We are not talking crystal glasses here.
At some stage there will be some sort of a move to study the injuries and if the "Nanny state" brigade try to change the rule do reduce injury, to make it more approachable or whatever term they use ..then I will be reconsidering my blanket support. Play the game..dont play the game.. but dont change it to fit the outcome you desire. Just the facts and let people make their own choices. ..and the more skill they get I feel the injuries will hopefully reduce. My gut feel is most if not all the girls who play want to embrace the physical side of the game anyway.. after all there is an abundance of non contact sports they could play if they wanted to.

The same people who push the gender denial barrow also push for equal numbers of women in parliament,I have no problem one way or the other but you can't hold both views simultaneously.

Just an answer to the "leftie" thing. I wouldn't know what gender, age, colour, political leaning of anyone on here truly is, but when someone generally flings out leftie as an insult...

Your concern for females is very touching.
I'm sure they appreciate it.

Who would you replace him with though? Unless you are talking putting Cam Guthrie there (and we have been reluctant to do that) or getting 15kg on his younger brother then theres no one to replace Bews. I get his limitations but he will stay until we have a better alternative in that position which IMO we currently don't.
I guess it depends on the structure we end up having down there and how many "smalls" we play. Given Zach Tuohy might struggle to get up for round 1 then Bew's position is probably safe for the immediate future.

CGuthrie can definitely kick better than Bews and was more than competent down there in his early days. Like Blicavs, his tenure as a "utility" has rattled his confidence and is a shadow of his former self. I'm surprised he hasn't trained down back given Tuohy's injury but perhaps Scarlo just doesn't want him.

Chatting to an AFL recruitment manager the other day on my street, and he stated that the running small defender needs to have a great peg on them if they want to get drafted.

From all reports and video snippets, Jordan Clark has these attributes and will likely usurp Bews as he matures.

Just as well for Bews that he isn't the running defender then, rather the lockdown one.

Fair enough... Its funny..some of the values that were once left are at best now middle ...

all I want is probably bit of both .. the best players can kick with both feet

One game last season Cam from 3 kickins from behinds seen the ball sail back over his head for goals, twice he kicked it short to opposition players the third time he played safe and kicked it out of bounce on the full 15mrs around from goal.He tends to only kick it 20mtrs these days anyway. No thank you down back, and he's running out of options.
