We're looking for really consistent defensive efforts from Paul, and he knows that, and he's prepared to work really hard on that. I'll be keeping a close eye on the VFL, and we know Paul will do everything to push for an AFL spot

The club hasn't made any comment or given any reason for Ahern's non-selection so where are you getting the "consistent defensive efforts" thing from?

My mail is that it's a sideburns issue.

Cue September, Damian Barrett "..and finally Paul Ahern has as many 6 clubs interested in his service after he and the club agreed to let him explore opportunities for gametime elsewhere."

I'd seriously look at going down and writing some words in weed killer on the Arden St surface if this happened.

Paul Ahern was a victim of North’s midfield depth in Round 1; excluded from the side despite an impressive pre-season.

Taking the piss these campaigners.

He was a victim of the ****witted coach we extended early out of pure fear.

No "we" Brad you had final say- own it. You dropped a bloke who had 21 disposals and kicked 3 goals in 63 % game time in JLT2. I'd ****ing suggest that no one other than you could explain away why he was dropped.

Luckily I know you dropped him and decide Dumont would take Fyfe and it ****ed with our equilibrium. Mr fiddy % coaching record, one does wonder how much worse I'd have gone.

What sort of idiot leaves out a highly skilled, goal kicking, accumulator out of a side that lacks class on almost every single line?

A ****in clueless idiot that's who.

Anybody falling into that line of thinking is the same.

No question.

I’ve long given Brad the benefit of the doubt when it comes to selection.

But the call to not pick Paul, coupled with that response to McGowan’s (very relevant) question is piss ****ing weak. The bloke is incompetent.

So basically, he explained the reason Ahern was left out anyway.

"we got that wrong"

He did indeed.

I don't see what else people expected him to say? Maybe "Yes I'm a useless ****wit" just to make them feel better.

He got it wrong and admitted as much. Lets hope he learns from his mistakes.

The defensive efforts comment came from Marc McGowan.

So Marc McGowan said he missed a game because of defensive efforts last week but then when McGowan actually asked Scotts in public Scotts said he wasn't going into the reasons. Does this mean McGowan just made it up last week? That someone else told him that and it wasn't the real reason? If McGowan heard it from the club I imagine if it was accurate and the clubs position Scott would have acknowledged it had already been discussed.

Don’t think he admitted he got Ahern wrong, just that they picked the wrong side.

He made the admission in the context of Ahern not being picked
