I am massively, massively out of touch with snobs in ultra high net worth seats that think parroting "climate change" is what political discourse in Australia should be. Yes. Proud of it too.

What about average middle income Australians who care a lot about the environment we live in?

Just because the nice people at Sky news have told you to believe the environment isn't important, doesn't mean it isn't.

Ignorance personified. Australia could go back to the "glory years" pre white man and end carbon emissions.

Outcome?

Zero statistical difference to global temps

It takes a "special" sort of delusional campaigner to campaign for such stupidity.

Poor will suffer the most of course but hey since when did the ALP give a fruit about them?

It's an argument wing nuts like to make now that they've been proven to be victims of a conspiracy theory aimed at manipulating the stupid and fearful:
One person's action on climate makes little statistical difference, therefore no one should ever do anything about climate change.
Do you think the people who tell you what to think have any more respect for you than any other con-artist has for his foolish victims?

No, its a blatant fact. Nothing Australia does will make any difference to global temperatures.

Talk about science denial. You have it in spades.

Irony personified. Bemoans leadership, only wants to follow. Is a full capitalist, complains about the poorest. Lel.

Says the tool typing from Waterloo Bridge and annoying everyone in London whilst your buddy mayor encourages the excrement.

No, its a blatant fact. Nothing Australia does will make any difference to global temperatures..
This is a defeatist argument though

Nobody should do anything because anything anybody does wont make a difference.

How do you know? In our region it might. Going back 45 years the hole over the ozone layer was always over Antarctica so I used to think if we can do something it might shift away. Naive but I was 10

But I would like to think if I cleaned up my backyard the cockroaches would stay on the other side of the fence or at least my clean yard spurs on others. Just a thought

Is your avatar Bomber Harris? If so, impressive.

You might not like it, but from what I have read, Meds is correct.

Putting aside any moral arguments, the hard fact is that whatever we do makes **** all difference to climate change.

The only exception is that if we ban all coal exports and local consumption of same. Do you want to do this?

The tax I pay makes no difference: No one should pay tax.

If I throw my wrapping out of the car window, it won't make any difference: Everyone should litter freely. etc. etc.

You see Meds, we live in a society. You've decided that your role is purely as a parasite, insisting that others cary you. You've made a conscious decision to be an oxygen thief, but not everyone's like you. Not everyone feels the most desirable state of being is to be utterly self centred and pathetic, despite all the money that's been spent by big polluters on telling the ignorant, paranoid and easily led what to think.
What is it with wingnuts that your greatest fear is that you might not use everything up now and end up leaving something to future generations?

I suggest we leave the wingnuts in their echo chamber. Sure they'll sneer and they'll whinge, and bitch and moan and complain. But the adults in the room just need to get on with the job. In the end we'll just have to carry the meds and dry rots of this world.

The world looks flat from where I stand. Any argument that the world is shaped like a globe os obviously ridiculous.
1/ Climate change doesn't exist.
2/ Climate change does exist but it's not man made
3/ Man made climate change does exist but there's nothing can be done about it. I been proven wrong at every turn so far but now I'm right.
4/ Shit the climate's changed, I demand compensation form those inner city socialist communists who created the science, and are thus responsible for global warming.

Yes they don't like the science when it doesn't suit their politics, do they?

Morrison and Shorten are campaigning to be elected as the next Government of Australia which makes Australian laws - they aren't campaigning on behalf of the world.

The science does overwhelming support the fact of man mad climate change. Glad you finally lifted the wool from your eyes :thumbsu:

It's interesting how the Flat Earthers alway have the exact same argument. It changes lock step and barrel, spontaneously and universally, as they lose the previous one. Anyone would think they're having their thoughts fed to them, which they then mindlessly regurgitate.

You be sure to vote in the interests of foreign owned multinationals, there's a good, mindless Murdoch drone. I'll vote in the interests of Australia, and our nation's future.

Again, my question to you is: Do you think those who tell you exactly what to think, without you ever questioning them, have any more respect for you than does another conn artist for his foolish victims?
None of you mindless wingnuts ever seem to want to answer that one.

But it does make a difference to other things, like survival of Australian ecosystems, health of groundwater reserves etc.

Even if you completely abandon the notion of climate action, that isn't the singular and only environmental catastrophe unfolding in Aus.

However, if we do zero in on climate change, the argument is that we need to act in aggregate. 100 smaller countries could argue, "we have negligible impact", but if all act in concert, then it has real and measurable impact.

The idea that smoking causes cancer is just a conspiracy theory imposed by the leftie scientists. 98% of them say it's happening, but there are some that don't, according to the articles I read in the paper. Sure, they're funded by Philip Morris, but who cares. Australians only smoke 2% of the world's cigarettes anyway, so what difference will it make to global cancer rates?

Science tells us one thing. That Australia can reduce its carbon emissions to zero and it will have no statistical affect on global temperatures.

Yet here you are attempting to accuse others of being science deniers.

I'll vote in the interests of Australia, and our nation's future.

Its blatantly obvious that Australias best interests are served by not acting unilaterally. Either you cant grasp that or simply choose not to and shout drivel at those with an IQ high enough to understand basic economics.

Who said anything about acting unilaterally? Never heard of the Paris Climate Agreement? Only 2 countries refused to sign up, with a 3rd recalcitrant subsequently withdrawing.
