Wouid we be prepared to offer our 2019 first pick for T.Kelly?

For me personally I would.T.Kelly is not the the line breaking mid we're after but jeez he's bloody good at winning balls at stoppages and getting the ball forward & kicks goals too.

His current age fits our list demographic nicely too.
If you had to choose one, would it be Martin or Kelly?

If he doesn't want to be here, then I don't want him.

I have read walker is a potential top 10 in 2020. If walker is as good as projected then we would likely be trading our 2019 first anyway. So I would probably do Kelly for a future first.

Who said top 10?

If he is playing half back he will need to be outstanding to go top 10. See Clark for an example.

Hypothetical question here, but if we started getting frustrations among the tall forward ranks toward the end of season (due to, say, lack of playing opportunity/$)
- Which one would you be most prepared to jetison?
- Who would be some player trade targets you'd go for?

I think it would have to be one of Taberner or Dixon. I'd rather keep Cox who I feel is a better footballer & can play both ends, but suspect he'd have higher trade currency at this stage.
Players I'd be going for:
-Angus Brayshaw;
-Tim English;
-Jack Martin;
-Sam Petrevski Seton;
-Zac Fisher;
-Tim Kelly;
-Jordan Clark.

Notwithstanding, there would need to be pick swaps, my first preference would be Brayshaw - fearless player & great character. Unlikely, given he just extended.

Also like Jordan Clark - could develop into a classy player.

Thoughts?

Definitely Dixon out since he has no runs on the board (not his fault obviously).

Think there is ZERO chance of Brayshaw, English, SPS, Fisher and Clark. Pretty sure all of them have at least 2 years to run (after this year). That just leaves Martin and Kelly, both of whom seem unlikely. Kelly maybe a sniff if we pony up big cash, which I don't think I would be a fan of.

Targets this year are Cogs and the two you mentioned although I don't think we are significant chance at any of them. We might be chasing fringe players or just going to the draft this year.

Dixon has no real currency, so would keep.

If we were wanting to get Kelly then they may be interested in Cox rather than a pick (or Darcy or Langdon). I would keep Taberner over Cox and think Hogan, Taberner, McCarthy, Lobb and Dixon are enough for us and a great spread. Of course happy to keep Cox, but that could become problematic with both Crows and Power potentially interested in forwards.

Bulldogs are also very much in need of KPPs. Sydney too. I think there is demand out there, and if we have a situation we can benefit from, we should consider it.

Wouldn't at all want to lose him, but I'd trade Cox before Tabs everyday of the week.

If Darcy develops more this year, then for now there is no need for English. Plus pretty sure he's contracted, so not coughing up a first round pick for him.

Never been interested in Angus Brayshaw. Tough as nails and hugely admire what he's been through, but he can't kick.

Tim Kelly - yes, but I'd be surprised if he came to us. Makes up for his kicking elsewhere and finds the goals.

Jack Martin - meh, obviously I'd take him but 0% chance. Better chance of him going to Essendon.

Cogs - 1000000% yes, but extremely doubtful he comes. Probably stays at GWS.

Fisher and SPS - no chance

Anyone know how Ian Hill is going at the Giants?

I think our no. 1 target will be Cogs and Bell/Rosich will have a good idea by the end of the bye week where we sit with that one. Failing that we will then move onto Tim Kelly.

The other player that has been mentioned is Mitch Duncan. Watching him today he is a team first player laying some awesome shepherds. His situation as a pre-agent makes him similar to Lachie Neale.

Brennan Cox I would rather keep and is under contract. BUT if someone comes in with a very favourable offer we’d have to consider strongly.

I have no idea whether Jack Martin is even interested in heading west. If our academy kid (Henry) keeps going at his current trajectory then I wouldn’t be against trading out our 2019 first for either Tim Kelly or Jack Martin with a 3rd coming back to us to use for points.

Brayshaws best friend (Jesse Hogan) and his brother play for us, plus he was a diehard freo supporter growing up. He said somewhere when Andy got drafted that Andy was living out his dream! if melb continue going down and freo continue going up, i wouldnt completely rule it impossible if freo able push really hard for it and put a really good pitch in (like the one Bris put to lachie). Stranger things have happened...
That's fanciful, to put it bluntly. I reckon I read that we had a crack before he signed his contract but for the same reason I don't see Andy leaving, I don't see Gus leaving either.

I think Cox, and Darcy request a trade if not in the 22.

Players I want are Cognilio, Martin, Kelly.

No point targeting contracted players. Sps and Fisher won't be traded for a fair value

Other thing is we’ve got re-sign Langdon, Tucker, Blakely, Logue, McCarthy and S.Hill before we even get started. Bear in mind Ryan, Pearce, Sturt and Valente come out of contract next year.

That’s a lot of cash tbh. Hopefully we can have half those guys signed up by the bye.

Cogs through FA & T.Kelly trading out our first.Our midfield set and the premiership window swings open.
Because he is a Restricted FA I think the Giants likely match any offers and force a trade.

What would RFA compo be?
What trade would be required?
Is there an Option C?

What happens if the Cats aren’t happy with anything anyone offers them and Kelly refuses to sign another contract? Is he forced out of footy for a year?

Pre-season draft or if he is inclined can go into the National Draft.
