The problem for a young coach will be managing the Carlton Board and associated money men. Teague match day coach, someone senior as the guy who manages up. Roos would be a perfect fit but he can’t only commit to 3 years needs to be in the role 5 years

Keep winning games and those money men have nothing to complain about.

Don't think Liddle is the type to allow that sort of meddling either.

Our focus needs to be on getting the best coaching team together, not on adding layers of expensive administrative bureaucracy.

The best win in years! Was watching it with my newborn in my arms and I couldn't even celebrate when Murph kicked that goal. I thought SPS, Ed and Murph went beast mode. The belief these boys have is admirable.

Litte one is one from one :)
congrats.......mummy, when will you change your bf tag?

Im not making a thing of it, I pointed out in my opinion he had a poor game and people keep calling me out on it. So I answer their questions. Like your post, im answering the question.

Murph is (in my opinion) money in those situations. Has kicked so many goals like that over his career. When his first one got smothered I said lucky cuz he kicks those. As soon as I saw it was him I was up

The only thing more certain than murph kicking one of those goals is him ending up on his back, on the ground, legs spread, admiring his handiwork.

View of Murphy's pants, ala LanceRomance, if you will...

Don't disagree but it's not an easy decision. Who we think is coming in will have a big influence as well as contract status. If we bring in around 8 players it isn't easy to select 8 players to go out. I'm not against them staying but when I review the list and what we are doing I struggle to see 2 of them staying on. It's going to be tight

You're right about that - which is why I don't think there will be 8 changes. 5-6 impactful ones will be plenty.

Simpson (ret)
Lobbe
Phillips
Lebois
Polson
Fasolo
Lang

A couple of those last three might get a reprieve, but I'd be doubtful. Fasolo and Lang haven't been doing enough given they should be AFL-standard mature bodies. Polson maybe gets a reprieve, but I really can't see him getting into the senior midfield any time soon, and the small forward experiment didn't work.

I can see that, if we appoint Teague as coach, he may benefit from a mentor for our first flag but why do we need Roos for the last three of four?

Calling this very early but I reckon player power (a la the Swans and Roos) will get Teaguey into the job.

Just watching the replay again.
First quarter... the Walters free kick... the umpire got that seriously wrong. You can actually see Walters ducking his head back down into Plow to suck the umpire into giving him a free kick. And then followed up by the free kick for a "push in the back" to McCarthy. They had both run under the ball, Weitering might have nudged McCarthy, but there was not enough in it to warrant the free kick.

And talking about the Walters free kick... the umpire on the spot completely missed the massive handful of jumper that Darcy had in the ruck contest.

It was a poor quarter by us regardless. It definitely wasn't helped by Charlie going down in the 12th minute and throwing our structure out of shape. And then McGov going off towards the end of the quarter.

Just starting the second quarter now!

Walsh was incredible. I can't believe how impressive he is. Looked like with Cripps out he took it upon himself to lift the side. He was more inside and did so much tough stuff. Real team player. Got to many contests I didn't think he could, got hit and got back up and kept running. Just WOW

I was a big fan before but yesterday he took it to a new level for me. For an 18 year old with 13 games I could be more impressed. Amazing player

I think we need to remove some more because of the players we brought in (Gibbons/Cottrell/DeLuca) for injured players? Although one was for Bugg so maybe 2 extra?

Probably best for the List Management thread. ;)

Also - if you wanna see a prime example of an elite senior player being lazy as **** - check out Fyfe at the opening bounce of the final quarter.
Good pickup BB Fyfe did exactly the same at the start of the 3rd qrt as well just let his opponent Jack waltz away with the pill .
Quite bizarre for a player of his standing .

One of my favourite moments, apart from Murphy's last minute goal.
Was watching Daisy after he kicked the goal and see him sprinting to the interchange bench.
The total joy and excitement on his face at the prospect of a win.
It was wonderful to see. I love his passion for the team.

I like Weitering on the bench when Freo kicked that penultimate goal.
Put head in hands, yet made it back onto the ground to have the last kick of the match.
Reckon he would have been as satisfied as anyone on the ground.

Great to see some of the guys looking like they know they belong now - O'Brien being the main one with JSilvagni not far behind.
Setterfield will only get better also and the games in the main side makes for 10 games with the Northern Blues.

I know Dow kicked a goal and dished off a nice pass. But with only 7 possies and a few bad clangers, should he be dropped. I don't think he had much impact. Not sure if that was because he played in the forward pocket.
I would give a game in the 2's to rack up some touches and polish and maybe give Deluca a run. Am I being too harsh on Dow?

Reckon he'd be a chance to make way for Cunners if fit. Plays the forward crumber role, can go into the middle for some dash. Definitely agree, and have done for a while, that Dow could really benefit from a few games in the NB's as the prime on-baller.
