Yep, I reckon he has set very high expectations for himself and just wants to contribute and succeed with a passion. He has the smarts and the talent. He shows class more often than he mucks up. He seems a very driven young fella. I am damn sure he will get consistency and that class will shine. He is a WIP and we can't blame him for being impatient. I expect Russell will get his Chi flowing and it will all come together.
Well said !

Had a theory that we may actually go well with Cripps out of the side in some ways and that was right. There is no doubt we are too Cripps central and go to him all the time which makes it easy to pick us off. At least we had a more even effort and were less predictable. Something we can learn from in the future.

It made a difference playing a more team game in the midfield and removing a guy like Dow who is out of form and adding Silvagni who played well.

Walsh - He was great, really prolific and hard running as usual, the thing he needs to do is clean up his kicking. Start putting those goals through.

Murphy - He really stepped up, he was great. Bit of a blast from the past. Now if he can produce that most weeks that would be great.

Newman - Thought he was pretty solid without setting the world on fire. Been a good honest defender.

Ed Curnow - He was really good, better once we moved him off Fyfe who really had the better of him.

SPS - Started off slowly but really came into the game later and was damaging with his kicking.

Marchbank - Was one of our best, seems to have developed his body and is really playing some good football.

Casboult - Was back to the forward line and was useful.

Thomas - Played a really good game, his season has been excellent.

Kreuzer - Took advantage of a younger ruck and an injury, had a solid game and had an influence in the ruck.

Silvagni - wasn't playing well up forward but when shifted on the ball he was good. Some good clearances and did a good tagging job. I think when he gets fitter and stronger will be useful in that role.

Setterfield - fairly neat and tidy game. He's improving his game recently, starting to run a bit harder around the ground.

Gibbons - I liked his effort this week, it was better than the last game. Still could do more with his kicking.

Plowman - Was fairly good, slow start but he did his job.

Fisher - Seems down on form, I just feel he's not going in as hard as he could. Does some nice things but isn't in form right now.

O'Brien - He's doing a lot right and getting his hands on the footy but his kicking game was really poor which is unusual for him.

Simpson - Quiet game, did enough and did things well when it was his turn.

Kennedy - I liked his effort and he did a few things I really liked when he attacked the contest hard. Kicked a couple of goals and ended up playing a decent game.

Jones - He was really good, I just don't want to see him being reckless and taking his team mates out. Liked his intercepting.

Weitering - He did enough, he was solid. I really liked a few moments where he was physical, laid some solid body spoils, I've been saying it for a while that this is one of the areas he needs to improve, he needs to get rough.

McGovern - He's really out of form and his fitness doesn't seem to be great. It was another poor game and IMO he's getting a game on his name alone. Not far off the reserves if you ask me. Dropping marks and missed an easy goal doing something stupid.

Dow - Played forward in Cuningham's role. Kicked a nice goal and just missed one. Thought he was ok.

Curnow - Started well then was injured.

Just watched the replay and i reckon Samo's going to be a Star.

This exactly. The sooner Samo figures it out the better. On multiple occasions he gave the ball up because it was the “team thing”.

Once Samo comes to the conclusion that him choosing the target is the team thing we will be so much better.

Great atmosphere at the game and was just so relieved to get the 4 points. The noise when muprhy kicked his goal along and when the siren went I thought it was a Carlton home game.

I couldn't get to the WA Blues pre game function but got to the Camfield bar (next to the ground) for a quick beer before the game and they had a past players function on. Good to see the big duke, Matt Clape, Wayne Blackwell, Brad Shine among others including Steven 'Suitcase' Browne. All of these boys sat near me in the Carlton section and were celebrating as hard as the rest of us Carlton nuffies. Jesse Glass-McCasker and his GF sat in front of me and was happy to have a chat and was also pumped to see the win.

Above all it was great to see the smiles on the young carlton supporters including my son and daughter who haven't had much to smile about when it comes to the Blues over recent years.

Great respect to the dockers supporters who were obviously disappointed but happy to let us celebrate and the amount of Dockers fans that were giving high 5's to my kids and had a smile on their face was fantastic. The self entitled Eagles fans would never do the same.
