Mate it was such a pisstake that after the Melbourne game, certain posters couldn't wait to get stuck into you for calling him confusing... And if I recall, referring to you as a cancer from memory.
That's right, I admitted he played a good game ( his one out of 50) and Acres lovers came at me.

Sad to say I have been vindicated, which I don't like, I want every Saints player to succeed as it means we are successful.

If only Richo played him in the right position though

Like Richo, time to move him on. He may go better second time up with a different club.
Hope so, wish him no ill will.

The problem is he is doing us no favours on the trade table. Interesting what his value is. I know think newnes gets us nothing as a free agent. Who else is there. Sinclair. Not much if anything. It’s going to be bloody hard to get even reasonable picks in.

The team played way better than previous weeks , we still have a few positions to fill and hopefully we will get our trading right , because if we can add the extra strength to the positions we need we should be in got shape.
By the looks Hunter Clark looks to have found his feet after playing a very good game yesterday and after another preseason could develop as a midfielder we have been looking for.
Marshall was huge again so we have found a excellent ruckman.
Our backline is ok and our forward line just needs another marking target to ease the pressure on Bruce and Membery and hopefully King or though still very young may be able to help in this area next year.

It all comes down to our midfield and Dunstan and Steele have shown they are capable but we need a couple ball winners in the midfield and we have got a team.

God knows who they have lined up , but I would think they have already picked the players they are targeting and we only have to wait until the end of the season to see who they are.

With Webster , Battle and Geary coming back into the backline next year should strengthen our defense and hopefully we find out the futures of Steven and Hannebery before seasons end to see , because having 2 experienced class midfielders would help a lot.

Acres has not done him self any favors over the season and if he doesn't start to show his value to the team he could well be on the outer.
But in all we have quiet a few positions to fill , like a back up ruckman to replace Longer and Pierce and who the maybe will be up to the St Kilda brains trust.
Also the finding that couple extra ball winners using a bit of the salary cap money they have will have the teaming humming next year.

All we can hope for this year is get more game time into the young guys and give White a run and see if he can squeeze his way into the team.

The guys you are looking at will get nothing for , so I would keep them all because we have a lot of spots to fill anyway and this is why the Free agents are so important - bring in as many as we can - Coniglio is the one for me - imagine having him and a fit Steven and Hannebery with Steele , Dunstan , Gresham helping out.

He isn’t coming premmo

Gotta laugh at how worked up some get over the Acres GOAT talk. Read some of the stuff in the Game Day thread just before and had to laugh. I thought it was very obvious that it started as a piss take and has continued as a piss take.

He is the GOAT though.
It may have started as a joke, and maybe you and your mates might have been pisstaking all along, but there was plenty on here drinking his bathwater and believing the hype.

Don't think so. Posters have said for years, poor Acres always played out of position, would be our Cripps etc.

Forum darling and gets afforded excuses that no other Saints player gets.

Bog ordinary player, walked off last night smiling and laughing after that performance.

Trade please. Maybe a third. Cut losses.

I was a huge Acres fan earlier - was using GOAT sarcastically but did think he had the potential to be a very good player with some of his attributes. I don’t feel that way any more. He just looks like he CBF’d or isn’t paying attention most of the time.

I am intrigued about what a new coaching group can get out of all of our players and if they can salvage anything out of Blake.

Right now if we were offered even a lateish 2nd rounder I’d be very tempted.

Do Champion Data take stats on smothered disposals? We must be on pace to set a season record for how many of our handballs are touched by an opposition player first. It absolutely kills any momentum we have. If it was up to me if I was prioritising specialist coaching I'd spend the money on that rather than goal kicking. I have the very strong thought that fixing that problem first will lead to us being in better positions to be having shots. Anyway apart from the very frustrating umpiring that was the cause of most of my angst watching the game as it is the same every week.

Courage. Strange opinion of courage making jokes about handicapped people. Wash to their own. And I didn’t say I would say something like that. I said there are things I would say to mates I wouldn’t say on here. I’m going to guess the same with nearly everyone. Most people know what you can and can’t say in public. Most.

If you go look at his past posts, you’ll see he’s had a pretty rough time in the past. Nice that you stick up for others though. St Fly gets a bit of extra leash, he’s a good guy and a forum character that makes the place better.

In the unfortunate position of not getting a lot of return for mid career guys that have had a lot invested in them.

Acres
Sinclair
Newnes
Dunstan (gets the most out of his ability)
Mckenzie

This is the biggest problem. They also are not worth much at trade / FA. So what is the answer?

Then you add Gresham being a better forward than midfielder, Ross struggling and it makes it very difficult to compete.

Glad to see Clark coming on well.

Can we somehow get Bytel to 50 games before the start of next season???

The thing I find funny with Acres is people say he should be on ball, but then I look and he is in there at the stoppage playing with the intensity of a sloth.
The Acres talk on this board has always been good for a laugh.

First people complained he wasn't getting played because Richo hates him.

Then he started getting played but wasn't playing well so people complained that he was getting played out of position because of Richo

Now he's getting played and played on ball and still isn't playing well so people complain that Richo destroyed his development.

At no point is it ever considered that it might be something to do with Acres

I've always been a big fan of Blacres......have been since I saw him walzing thru packs against the Hawks I think it was 2015 at Etihad.

Impressed me straight away.

Have always been so hopeful about him.....the glimpses here and there.... but I'm about to raise my white flag.

So so disappointing.

I’m an unashamed fan of Acres & have been since we recruited him. As a 20-21 year old he showed a lot of potential & for whatever reason he hasn’t come on.

Acres trade value is at a low point & he’s under contract so I very much doubt he is traded. Better off retaining him & seeing if he can get better out of himself next year.

Good to see people basking in their glory that he hasn’t lived up to his 2016 hype though. Same people that probably abused Ralph Clark over the fence me thinks.

And does anyone know what GOAT stands for? Do people think that I/others think Acres is the greatest player of all time? Yup, he’s better than Lethal, Carey, Roo, etc.

Would love to see that post about someone calling you cancer or whatever Joffa, that’s an extreme accusation that requires back up IMO.

Anyhow, hopefully he proves you all wrong because he seems like a good kid with a shite load of talent that just needs to extract the digit. I think he will & we will see a new GOAT next year.
