According to Antoni Grover lol an ex fremantle KPD.
Bias is strong.

I'm talking about proper pundits en masse. Not one spud ex player.

You said "Hamling and AA havent been used in the same sentence ever."

It turns out they have been used in the same sentence. Guess you should have been more specific rather than making easily disproven claims

So if there is an external review and their findings are the same as Chappys predetermined outcomes, I say the external review was not only incompetent, but compromised.

Everything is not awesome Chappy and Burton isnt just misunderstood. We haven’t even won the same amount of games as last year!!! Last year we had the camp debacle and our PPT team destroying every hamstring that we own.

How is everything awesome!!!

Yeah what BS. How many times did he have to mention learning and then continue to try and justify it. Then goes on to say Brett will be considered elite when judged at the end of his career... He had to work far, far too hard to justify Brett's position.

“He’s learning and has learned a lot in this role. But I’m backing him to be one of the elite football managers, when judged at the end of his tenure.”

If you remove the spin: "Yeah look we saw great potential in Brett but we clearly promoted him before his time and have paid the price, but I'm too arrogant to admit this and we're going to double down on this failure and hope Brett can learn on the job. If we hang onto him long enough he might come good and people will forget how damaging he was to begin with..."

The arrogance of our leadership knows no bounds. How dare the membership question what they're doing! How would they know the amazing work everyone is doing? Poor results are clearly the players simply not trying hard enough, nothing to do with the leadership. When our department is clearly such an amazing group of high achievers, why would we need new ideas?
....and to top it off we decided to appoint as inexperienced person learning on the job ( by our own admission) whilst in a premiership window! His learning cost us a chance in 2018.

Maybe I should have said "should never be used int he same sentence"
You're right I didnt take into account the opinion of one singular nuffy.

Its a bad thing.
The more he says to the media the more likely he is to stuff up.
Also it hides from the public how bad things are internally

The press conference last year was a disaster but at least it showed everyone what a cluster**** it was down there.

Staying out of the spotlight means people can hide their incompetence

I love Chapman's use of the term "my board".

The arrogance of this flog.

And we wonder why our players act so entitled when that's the calibre of person leading the organisation
Hang him for lots of other things, but this is typical language used by a chair of a board.

Gotcha! Thought it would be pretty poor to attack some poor employee of the Club who by no fault of their own would be working for him.
No definitely wasn’t, I have no doubt their assistants are far better at their jobs than burton or smart are at theirs.

It can also be used as a protective term in management.

I'll protect / lead 'my team'. I'm more in the 'our team' camp, but each to their own. Let's not derail another thread with talk of leadership styles

Jeeez some people are going to be very disappointed when we don't get a first round pick for Keath.

Guys, we couldn't even get pick 30 for Jarryd Lyons
Bit of a difference though, given that we didn't actually want to keep Lyons... who was subsequently delisted by the team we traded him to anyway.

Looking over Chapman's words and you have to conclude that he is an idiot and one of the major causes of our issues. He genuinely thinks all appointments have been made appropriately and that we have all the right people in place and everyone is doing a fabulous job.
He's a moron.

His statements basically say;
  • We are right
  • You are wrong
  • We are never wrong
  • Any review will confirm what we already think, because we have already decided the outcome
  • We don't think there are any issues
  • We will carry on as normal
Not surprisingly, it's the exact same sort of thinking that led to the Banking Royal Commission and the disasters we saw. We are in for an enormous world of pain with no end in sight. Anyone who is hoping for any meaningful change will be sadly disappointed.
Given Chapman is so confident that the external review will vindicate all decisions of the club, surely he would support an open and transparent external review including public submissions and publishing the results?

I'm trying to flick through the replies in this thread to see if I'm reposting something already discussed ... But did everyone else get the hackles up with this from Chapman ...

The “externally-led and independent” end-of-season reviews had been commissioned, which he expected would reaffirm that position.

... So we have the expected position that Pyke is the man .. discussed publicly by the chairman BEFORE the review has started?!?!

Jeez Louise.

Last year I agreed, wanted it kept in house.
Now I want it all out so we can finally blow some of the dirty cobwebs out of the club.

Can somebody please explain to me why we are effectively controlled by the AFL until 2028?

Why in gods name did the AFC agree to such conditions?
Because the AFC doesn't currently own it's AFL license, and won't until 2028. We can't cut the apron strings until we actually own our AFL license.

What are you talking about. How were they an average side when they finished 3rd with 16 wins?

Honestly, the state of your posting.

We finished first and choked in the grand final and this guys trying to say we were average.
So we finished 1st and we're average but Freo finish 3rd and somehow they aren't average.

You cant have it both ways.

We scored 300 points more than any other team in 2017. That's approx 14 more points per game than the next best team.

My point was Ross Lyon turned an average team into a contender. Look at the list of players in that 2013 grand final.

But Fremantle certainly were.
Do you remember that he took them to a GF?

You've got a poor memory.
You mean the team that finished top 4 3 years running and included guns like Fyfe, Sandilands, Pav, McPharlin, Mundy, Hill, Johnson......

Seriously dude.
