That was the most damning comment for mine. I would have thought that maybe he should be asking, “is this stagnant game plan, that has proved woefully unsuccessful in finals, going to all of a sudden serve us well?” He almost appeared to wear that “last for play ons” as a badge of honour ffs!!! He’s got his head up his own arse.

The immediate and obvious question (that of course wasn't asked) could have been:

"Do you think although your game style works during home and away, and particularly at Geelong, that the added intensity and pressure of finals exposes it?"

Because it sure fornicating looks like it.

I would love an answer as to what he thinks playing slow would actually achieve?
Sure I'm just a random fan but when I think of slow movement backed by nothing more than kicks down the line all I see happening is players not moving to create options (and they don't, why would they, they won't get used) and the opposition being able to fold back and get numbers to the very inevitable contest.
Saw many, many, many times last night where (for eg) Sav was the tall down the line, the Cats knew this, the Pies knew this, so when the ball did come in he got "blocked" by his opponent and the Pies got numbers to the ball first.
And we continued to do it all night.
The ONLY time we looked even remotely dangerous was when we moved it quickly with overlap run and into an open forwardline.
It was comical at times last night when you'd see Hawkins 1 out deep forward without another player within 25m and the player with the ball would stop, prop, go behind the mark, wait, then bomb it on his head in a pack of 5.
Catman I'm not sure how many times we lost our shit to players obviously open deep forward, or running back into space, and the ball NEVER went there.
Everyone can see this style will never be successful, so why does the MC and Scott particularly think it will? Or, is it like so many suspect, the goal isn't finals success, it's just finals. Whatever it takes to make then, couldn't give a **** about actually winning them.

My question would of been, crowd noise in first qrs has been your undoing in so many finals over the years.
What steps over the last 4 years have you taken to adress this?
Or is it like the bye? Takes 6 years to accept it could be a problem?
Or is like 1st qrs in 2012, 3rd qrs in 2014, 3rd qrs 2016. Just not a problem?
F**k I'm trying not to melt, but what a waste of an era. What a waste of Danger in his prime.

Did you expect us to suddenly play a play-on style after finishing first being 18th for playing on?

I found it odd he would refer to the number 6 or 7 instead of using the term US just strikes me as poor leadership and lacking accountability.
I just don't get this bloke
Like WE got the weather wrong! What? You don't own a smartphone you lying f**kwit.
Coach has biggest say in MC too.
You are right.

It's interesting what supporters / clubs expect from a coach. Geelong could well lose next week and go out in straight sets, either that or they'll win and get hosed in the Prelim. Either scenario, people will keep paying to watch this H&A champion team beat up sides at KP. Guaranteed.

Chris Scott may have a finals record of 3 wins, 11 losses since 2011 after the West Coast game. With the list he's had to work with, this is a complete failure. Don't forget too that one of those three wins was gifted to us by Hawthorn.

No, it's enough just to get there. This side has failed in similar ways, time and time again. It turns up under prepared and mentally soft.

Chris Scott is a soft, emotional man. Don't be fooled by his antics in the coaching box, that's in line with what I'm saying - emotional. He coaches and operates this way. He has had very talented players to put on the park in his time, but can't extract ferocity from them at the MOST important times.

What did Albert Einstein say? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is common with the insane?

Supporters really want to hand their money over and think anything will be different while Chris Scott is there?

Its about nuances CE. I'm not saying we go to an all out play on from every mark - but we HAVE to be more attacking if we are going to win a final. Our forwards are and were given stuff all chance with this slow, methodical movement. Moore and Howe picked us off with ease time and again. The one time we did take the game on, in the last quarter, we looked far more dangerous. We are talking about subtle, but a significant change in mentality.

And you have to ask yourself, as Partridge covered, is this a game plan set up to win finals or one that really only gets us into September? How many more seasons of failed finals do we need for the penny to finally drop?

Watch Collingwood: from the Inside Out on ABC iview and see why Collingwood won.

They have a humble coach who's prepared to admit when he's wrong (Buckley, I know!). They have players who care about each other and play for each other. The Pendlebury 300th clearly played a part. The whole team is on the same page.

Sadly, it's probably too late for most of our players. If we miss out this year, I'd say we're at least four to five years away from the next flag, if not more. But the club could do worse than sit down and watch the doco together.

I think Chris was surprised at how poor some of the players were last night, the game style is ok but we dont have the right cattle for it no one wants to take the game on and is scared of making a mistake which in the end turns the ball over anyway...

But that is the gameplan.
Do not take the game on.
We are last for playing on after a mark/free, what we saw last night and have largely this year IS the gameplan.
Nobody in the history of the game would have the players required to succeed with that style.

Penny would of dropped years ago. But its a buisness and its not hurting the bottom line. It's actually helping it.
Shareholders don't sack a CEO if they get solid dividends coming in every year even if their a big f**kups.

You’ll get no arguments from me about it being a doomed game plan for finals. That much is clear.

Just think Scott’s answer to that question was perfectly reasonable.

This style has failed in one final. Previous styles have failed in other finals. An important distinction: the 2019 brand is vastly different to the 2018 one yet we still have a problem.
Could you have a stab at the common denominator?

Tempo footy is the game plan, go when we need too ( control of the footy) slow it down when opposition have it, its not an instruction to play it slow all the time as some players do

The only issue i have is we allow teams to waltz it out of our forward line with no pressure from behinds

Don’t like him, haven’t for years. Strikes me as supercilious.

Almost vomited last night when he carried on like a fool after Tuouhy kicked the goal to get us within 19 points. 19 points! Having been pantsed up until then. It’s not like we had taken the lead in the last quarter. As a supporter I find that sort of thing dispiriting, as it suggests to me he’s just barracking like the rest of us.

I'm really interested (genuinely) in why the six people...
...have voted to support Chris Scott post 2019 finals disaster?

If those six could give their reasons, I'd appreciate their 1.Honesty and 2.Courage
It was individual mistakes that cost us the game not game plan, 2 of Collingwoods goals in the 1st q when we had numbers at the marking contest and dropped it, landing to the only Collingwood player their.

Our forwards are so bad at the moment when they do get it they miss easy shots from 20m out Sav and Rohan are a total liability to the team Ablett form is so bad anytime he gets near it he fumbles

I concede that Stanley for Menegola (played well)was a major stuff up but that decided by a match committee just not Scott.

Players got the tempo wrong and seemed nervous to make a mistake

For How bad we were, we actually still could have won the game in the end Dangerfield needs help our much vaunted midfield needs to be broken up and new players injected.

I’m as angry and disappointed as anyone after last night but it’s pure fantasy to think we would sack a coach with three years remaining in his contract.

It. Will. Not. Happen.

If we fail dismally in the semi or prelim, our best hope for change is a clean out of assistant coaches, some of whom have been there for too long.

What a shame Essendon has already poached Caracalla for 2020.

Our only hope is if scott resigns cause he knows he’s not taking us anywhere. Which won’t happen cause he’s too arrogant and self centred. We couldn’t afford a 3 yr payout.

Cause 2 are hawk nuffie trolls.

Things that irritate me in the cold light of day:

* Losing.

* bizarre pre-game antics from Scott and the MC, including: campaigning for a home final, assuring Cats fans that we'll be 'even better' in 2020 and dropping our #1 ruckman before the game, only to admit before the game had even started that we'd erred in doing so.

* Kicking 1 goal for the 1st 45 minutes of the game/Missing crucial set shots from close range.

* Chris Scott banging the phone on the glass, roaring like a buffoon when we did eventually scramble a goal and generally behaving like a petulant fan rather than an experienced coach.whose reputation was on the line.

I've had a gutful; Scott's brand of football does not stand up under the scrutiny of finals.
Year after year he refuses to acknowledge that we have an issue with re-setting after the bye and year after year the team slumps badly after the break.
Scott himself seemed rattled and unfocused before a ball had been kicked in anger.

Would it be the bloke that after watching his charges get reamed by Charlie Cameron thought I don't think he had an influence and followed up with Grundy 47 and 21 no he wasn't much of a factor, the bloke that thinks Blits is the answer to every thing and that Kolo jazz can play short and tall when in fact he can't play either.

I think Chris was busy organizing the marching band other than working on the game plan.

Cant believe he was still playing a spare man back in the last quarter. Our ball movement was disgusting, orchestrated by Scott and his kicking down the line game plan.

I normally back in the management and believe the have it right, but last night performance and game plan it such a huge game was a disgrace. Its happen one too many times now in finals. This loss should be all on Scott.
