This Laird trade stuff isn’t going away. Good old Dwayne Russell says ‘higher ups’ at the Crows hinting he could be traded. Would be the dumbest move. And that says a lot.

Burgoyne to GC rumours weren’t going away either. Until he re-signed.

Just this morning in the same article as Laird they reported Burgoyne was close to finalising his GC deal. Shows how much inside info these parasites have.

I think someone posted it in the rumour thread five minutes before it happened. Here you go, just before 11am and prior to the news dropping in the media:

That cant be correct. Even in your statement you say that the club could still move him on "if he is willing to move". Club cant move him on if he has a contract and he wants to stay. At best the club could send him off but they would have to our his contract so for me the contract means a lot.

Contracts create certainty for players but more of the risk of a contract is on the clubs part. Currently clubs can't force a contracted player to leave. Well unless your hawthorn. But a contracted player can request a trade and can get to their club of choice pretty much 95% of the time. Is that fair? No. If the club had known that a particular player was going to break their contract they may have invested cap into a different player they may have had to let go. The inequity for clubs needs to change as clubs(especially non victorian) need to be protected. Currently the players have a majority of power. Once contracted players can be moved regardless then contracts will be a lot more valuable to clubs which is what matters for the long term viability of the game.

Not really. He was a relatively unfit long term project when we drafted him so it's not particularly surprising that it'll taken a while to get to a level where he's starting to flash potential. Fingers crossed one big preseason pushes him over the line into handling an AFL workload for a long period of time.

They are and were. After all, he was clunking 5.5 marks per game in his first burst, and 5.5 marks per game in the SANFL (AFL side had 4 contested marks in 8 games, which is ok numbers, especially for a < 10 game player). Get him fitter, get him more confident and it'll translate because that's what happened with the SANFL.

It really does not matter. We have pick 3 and it most certainly won't be (had better not be) used to draft stephens. Then we have pick 21 and he is gone by then. There are other players in the draft that look much more promising for us should we engineer a mid 1st rounder

Bingo!! When JJ can destroy Rance you don't just give him away for a year in the 40's or 60's if the draft that could end up playing not a single game.

Our forwards have shown this year they can destroy opposition forwards, but the game plan sucked. So many on here want us to get rid if JJ watch Eddie leave and rely on Tex (1 year left in him) FOG and Berg (who will take time or might not make it).

By trading out JJ will heap more pressure on developing players

What is shows is a 19 y.o. Fogarty can acheive the same as a 30 y.o. at half the cost.
Whose going you have more upside?

Get a decent game plan and no need for Jenkins.

One should expect Himmelberg to perform poorly with the current game plan so imagine what he might do with a decent one.

Even with a good game plan Jenkins only ave just iver 2 goals a game and most.of them Joey the goose could get.
