why are people so quick to write the giants off? They knocked off an in form Dogs, beat the Lions at the GABBA and then just beat the Pies at the G in a prelim. Give them some credit seriously.

Keep in mind, the premier had to play 4 finals to win in 15, 16, and Collingwood came close in 18. I think the extra week off is less of a factor with the pre finals bye. GWS will have 3-4 massive stars in with fresh legs. Richmond better expect a fight.

7 days is the average recovery. Would be almost 10 by then. He had his appendix out. He didnt lose a limb. Even if he is a little sore around the area. Pain killers would have him right.
I've had laparoscopic abdominal surgery. He'll be very sore for the first few days and not moving too well, so I imagine it would be a few days before he can run and change direction at least.

There are multiple (small) abdominal wounds that need healing, and then you need to avoid complications at the wound and potentially unlikely internal infection, but likely those scars are very small.

The part I am unclear about is the internal healing and the potential weakness in the abdominal wall. Significant physical activity and heavy lifting is not recommended for 2 weeks, if he does play he is right on the cusp, and I can't see how a surgeon could be happy with it, they'd surely advise against it.

Does the club listen to the specialist it paid to did the surgery? Just my speculation but surgery is surgery and he is line ball.

Coniglio is basically no chance. Only just returned to running last week.
Whitfield is likely and Greene will be back. Gonna be on next week. Giants showed that they don't mind a scrap.

Don’t underestimate Greene. He is fully capable of getting himself in a nightclub brawl in the next 6 days that would get him suspended from the Grand Final.

Now this is something I would love to see. The AFL is maybe the only sport in the world where you could potentially KO the entire other team, and still not be ejected from the game.
We’ve had the Toby Greene rule. Reckon we see the Mumford red card rule in place for 2020 after he wipes out 1/2 the team.

Even rugby has the sin bin. You wonder why the AFL has been so reluctant to implement something.

It should be a rag to a bull for Mumford this week

Spin it anyway you want but we all know that's not true. GWS finished 6th and Tigers are head over heels the favourite and have won 11 in a row. Not to mention they are an interstate side who have travelled weeks in a row and your on your home deck.

Be massive if GWS win it.

GWS were 9-3 at the bye before some injuries

there best side is ridiculous. Dominated Collingwood without their best players outside of ten minuets at the end

Kelly, Whitefield, Taranto, Cogs, Hopper, Williams, Greene, Hayes, DeBoar, Cameron, Davis, Taylor etc. etc.

Im still somewhat shocked Richmond got over the top of them in the 2017 prelim

Giants would be favourites if this was at Spotless. Last two Tigers wins against he Giants at the MCG have seen one of the Giants’ stars go off early (Shiel and Coniglio), and they were in the contest early in the other game against them in 2017 IIRC. Tigers should win because they spread so well and run the MCG better than possibly any team in history, but don’t rule GWS out if they can put out a fit team and stay healthy. Will be a very good game IMO.

Can't wait. That's another reason I was so keen for GWS to get up. Collingwood/Richmond would've been a blow-out for Richmond. Richmond probably still favourites here but it should be a cracker.

Given that Davis is under an injury cloud and Whitfield's coming off surgery I wouldn't risk Conigilo personally but Whitfield and Greene are still huge ins.

Be interested to see who replaces Graham and Broad if they don't get up. For no reason other than sentiment, I'm hoping for Pickett and Stack.

Fairly sure Davis will get up. Seemed it was general soreness, muscle related. But we'll see.
