I think it frees up some money, and maybe he has been an agitator within the 4 walls of the club (which a lot of people will think is a good thing).

I do note that a few people that are closely associated with Eddie (by way of the tight indigenous group) seem fairly disgruntled with the club (CEY, Cameron etc). Given Eddie’s influence it wouldn’t surprise me if some of that sentiment is shared, or comes from, Eddie. but I am just spitballing and have no basis for any of this.
I think they were offended by the Indigenous aspect to the camp whatever that was. Inappropriate use of an object from memory.

I think the former. Can't imagine we go close to the TPP this year anyways

They are talking 42 or something with us paying or 72 and paying none or less

Is 42 that good,

If you had more cap room, renegotiate some contracts forward pay some, so when the likes of fog and milera get better you have banked some cap room and it evens itself out

I can’t believe it’s us that wants him out.
Surely we aren’t close to the cap either.

Eddie turns 33 in 6 weeks. The history of small fowards suggests a very steep decline at 32-33 - look at the last years of Stephen Milne, Brad Johnson, Stevie J, Michael O'Loughlin, Jeff Farmer, Mark LeCras, Jason Akermanis, Paul Chapman.....

Historically, only freak small players contribute beyond their 33rd birthday - Brent Harvey, Leigh Matthews, Kevin Bartlett, Gary Ablett jr - all of whom could still pinch hit in the midfield.

The contract was always a year too long.

Ok, I really dont understand the logic of paying part of Eddie's salary and only getting back a 4th round pick (which we are unlikely to use). To me, it is either one or the other isnt it? I would have thought, fine, we will pay $200k and you give us pick 48...that is a relatively fair trade! Am I missing something? This seems like a terrible result for us. Also, why do we seem to be the only club that permits these type of "homecoming" trades. I mean, fine he wants to move back, but Carlton isnt the only club in Victoria. Why cant we be harder on these type of things!!!!!!

We're the ones offloading him.

how could collingwood afford jenkins?
my guess, paying him base wages, then probably third party media deals for the rest

Pay cut or we are paying some
just seems bizarre given their well noted salary cap issues.

not against it at all, in fact it would work out quite well. getting something physical back the other way instead of a nothing pick.

Sounds like the club gave Eddie a clip on the way out.....
