Trading phillips will break our 16 year streak of not dealing with Essendon during trade period. Last swap with them was also a ruck, when Matthew Allen went to the bombers.
They won their last final the year after that deal.....I say we hold onto Phillips. Not worth breaking the curse for.

It's in the article (link) I posted earlier ...

With a transaction to be facilitated before Wednesday, Phillips' pending trade would be the first since Justin Murphy's move from the Blues to the Bombers in exchange for Cory McGrath in 2003, and Matthew Allan went from Carlton to Essendon the same year.

When looked at trade tracker today, the trade that made me go WTF most was North and Dees trade. North have not much elite young talent and traded out one of earliest picks they had in some time. Just do not understand it at all. They got future first rounder from Dees but unless Dees have another season in bottom 4 it makes no sense to me. I expect Dees to bounce back middle of ladder at worst so North I cannot see getting a better pick next year than this year's first rounder they just traded away. Looks silly to me as a strategy when crying out for more young talent in door asap.
It is abit strange because they are betting on Melbourne not themselves. Though they did have the most RS nominees this year so they do have some young talent coming through and they may have something up their sleeves next year with two firsts???? Maybe a Caldwell or something plus someone else. 26 is a handy pick and they may even be thinking about using that in a trade yet.
For me it’ll probably end up like our trade with Adelaide where both teams do alright out of it.
