Has it been reported, or stated by anyone, who SOS actually wanted at that pick? Just curious.

Think the suggestion was he was keen to keep adding to the youth cohort with Dunkley.

While "others" (not sure who, Liddle, Lloyd, other members of the LM team?) wanted Deluca for immediate impact given the horrid start to the season.

Not 100% confirmed anyway, just the hearsay I recall.

Pretty sure I remember reading on here that Bolton wanted Deluca also.

I guess SOS would say that he wanted empowerment to undertake the job he was employed to do and didn't want to be micro managed.

Collaboration would indicate that the CEO has a role to play in list management which I don't believe he does. Liddle needs to focus on the macro and not fall into the trap of trying to be involved in everything.

Not collaboration with the CEO, with the coach and other recruiters.

SOS didn’t rate Deluca
Thanks for the reply Barass70. Do we know whom SOS actually rated?
This whole saga is very unnerving.... Just when everything was starting to click and the list was coming to completion, I'm afraid this fallout is going to have very strong repercussions. SOS was doing a great job and this whole thing is very sad indeed. Frictions and fallouts happen all the time but I was hoping cool heads and common goals and vision would prevail over personal issues.

You get that there’s a reasonable difference about trading a future 4th round pick, and having the 1st selection of all mature non AFL players though, right?

I do, one is about 40 spots higher in value than the other, one gets an automatic two year contract, the other gets 6 months.

The only part I’m highlighting is, in both circumstances, as far as I’m aware, SOS didn’t want, want happened. In one case in Deluca, it seems he was right, in the other imo he wasn’t.

supposedly SOS wanted Dunkley, would Dunkley still be there now and at the expense of who?

Any idea why Riccardi wasn’t considered by anyone?

Going into bat for a Senior Coach who is being actively ignored on list management is exactly what the CEO should be doing.

The way he went about it was perhaps wrong, but this is the President's problem for letting it get to this.

For me, I'll throw Chris Judd in too. How have MLG and Judd let dysfunction in their football department get to this?

Too busy organising Juddchella to notice....

Hate to break it to you but I am pretty sure we could take pot shots at every club for a draft or at least a handful of picks that didn't work.

I honestly think Adelaide in terms of talent identification not administration!, Geelong and the Hawks are the 3 best clubs at it.

Look at Melbourne for example they have had more bust picks than most I would suggest, oh and Clayton Oliver was a massive reach.....

Compared to our recent history of fantastic decisions such as Kane Lucas, Blaine Boekhurst including that trade... OH and BROCK ******* MCCLEAN for pick 11.....

SOS is a God send compared to that shit prior.

Brock Mclean was Rattens pick, you are aware of that.

People seem to forget as much when they glorify his performance
