That's all kinds of wrong
Pretty good ranking but can't agree with Eyes Wide Shut. Tom Cruise was the worst piece of miscasting since John Wayne played Genghis Khan. The correct order (post 1960) is this:
2001 = Barry Lyndon > Dr. Strangelove > Lolita = Full Metal Jacket > Eyes Wide Shut > The Shining > A Clockwork Orange

Watched it many a time at Trak cinema in the 80s and 90s. It’s a great film.

I think it's a great "event", assisted by its long term pseudo-banning. Not a great film as such.
Malcom McDowell should have won an Oscar.
Send me ya Kenny Rogers playlist hot show.Says the guy who only listens to 1930s country music and has to quit to the board when people call him a hipster![]()
I agree with that. Pity literally every other actor in the film was (deliberately directed to be) terrible. That's one of the reasons it's not a great film.

It's the vibe man
That's part of what makes it great
Plus the yelling prison guard guy is gunnery Sgt Hartman before he existed but angrier and britisher
It‘s an iconic interpretation of an interesting novel that influenced cinema, fashion, music, and design for decades. The portrayal of Alex by McDowell was insanely good and the fact that Chewbacca is in it, as a bespectacle, short-short wearing, body guard/intimate care giver, is the cherry on top.
Not his best movie, I grant you, but at least as good as FMJ.

Oh that character was sub-par Basil Fawlty before Basil Fawlty even existed. Terrible.
I just want to add that A Clockwork Orange would be the best movie of the year in most years. But we're talking about the rarified standards of Stanley Kubrick here.
Vader, not Chewie![]()
