Am I wrong in thinking that treloar has had a history with hammys?

Collingwood might end up fronting his entire 1st year and getting someone else to play for peanuts in 2021.

That is not a great deal of extra points for them though. There is also the issue with matching draft pick numbers to available list positions, so the Bulldogs won't want a whole raft of draft picks or they'll end up with JUH and then half a dozen picks in the 60s - they will need a few draft picks in the 20s - 40s to pay for JUH.

We should be targeting that pick though. And I just don't think our trading needs to be that over complicated to get there (yes, I just said that):

1. Brown to Melbourne for 26 & 43. (Brown equiv. pick 16)

2. Higgins & 28 to Geelong for 20 & 38. (Higgins equiv. pick 28)

3. Picks 26, 38 & 43 to Bulldogs for pick 14. That's a 411 point gain to Bulldogs, so get a 2021 pick also coming back our way.

We have picks 2, 11, 14 & 20 (plus 63 & 71 which would end up probably around pick 50 by the time bids eat up a lot of picks). Job done.
Agree with your post, but I did say we would need to pony up something more. It’s just a matter of what additional points surplus is appropriate

Would prefer the actual pick 16, thanks.

Well, yes, would want to be confident of rolling those picks into Bulldogs' pick 14 before just doing that Brown trade. I'd be very disappointed if that initial Brown trade went ahead and that was it.

Help me understand.
If Brown is offered $550K x 5 by the Dees but their offer back to North is sh1te then Brown can be walked to the PSD.
And then, if say Adelaide selects him but only offers $300K x 2 what then?

If a player nominates for the PSD they set a contract price and clubs bidding have to match it.

I dunno.

He has had a history of not being able to hit targets.

Just an interesting North related tidbit from one of our posters:

"North Melbourne seem to have a desire to force Jed Anderson out.
They haven’t said this, but their contract offer suggests they value him as a 7th round pick."

Not sure if '7th round pick' is an exaggeration, but yeah suggesting North are lowballing him big time...but with all your outs who is the money going to??

Do we want 14? That is going to be pushed down with bidding, but picks in the second/third round will be used to pay for the majority of the academy signings. Ideally, we want to grab as many second/third round picks as we can and hope clubs like Dogs, Swans and others who will be cashing in picks to pay for academy players and have those picks consumed will draw up the remaining picks that haven't been used to pay for players.

In that regard it would benefit us to make sure all the academy players get bid on as high as possible to maximise the number of points required. If Pick 14 drops down 3 or 4 places and picks in the second round get pulled up 5 or 6 places as picks are cashed in then how much of a benefit is there really getting into the mid to late part of the first round?

Ok, my mate asked his Carlton contact about Jed.

They are very keen, mainly because they need some inside grunt support for Crisp cos he is getting battered.

His response verbatim regarding the likelihood of getting Jed:

"Going to struggle for Anderson because Dodoro's a c$%t!"

I would suggest it’s not Dodoro’s job to help Carlton.

As for Crisp, needs help due to getting battered? I’m glad Cunners isn’t this soft!

I have no idea what our offer is and what Jed is asking for.

North want Jed to stay, but aren’t willing to pay him absurd coin (see Ben Brown).

Just because we have cap space, doesn’t mean we should overpay players. Sets a horrible precedence.

I never do trade scenario's. They sh*t me. But:
  • Melb(Josh Mahony) said Dees are after Brown, but Nth are not just after picks in return.
  • Pies have cap issues and want to get rid of Treloar/Stephenson. We'd be interested in the later.
  • We're trading Brown & Polec
  • We also have cap space - more than most anyway
Therefore, is it possible we're looking to:
  1. Trade Brown to Dees
  2. Polec to Pies. We pay some salary
  3. We get Stephenson and take some salary
  4. Pies get Dees pick in the 20's and cheap Polec to offset Stephenson loss.
  5. Later pick to us in return
Basically, we get Stephenson for Brown and Polec (who we don't want). Perhaps we get a pick in 30's as well? Worth considering? Just a thought.

Steep price for Stephenson, are we also funding his last friend from the hub?

Of course shouldn't overpay. I guess it comes down to what the offer to Anderson from North is (which none of us know for sure).
Just passing on the info from one of our posters who seem to have links to our List Management team that they reckon the offer is really quite low.

According to his manager today, we are not far apart so I doubt we are offering him 7th round money.
