No way should we be sending a first round pick to Collingwood for Treloar. If he’s prepared to renegotiate his contract then he’s doing Collingwood a massive favour to get the deal done. We don’t then reward the Pies with a first rounder.

I’d be annoyed if we handed over anymore than a 3rd rounder. He’s not a position of need and the Pies have backed themselves into a corner. Either we make out like bandits or move on to more pressing areas of concern.
Noone is getting Treloar for a 3rd lol. Would be dumb to pay his full 900K (the only way to use a lower pick in the trade).

Our 14 for Treloar plus later picks for Marra points would be perfect if we want him (which is what the OP suggested). More than likely we'll just be splitting 14 for Marra points anyway so it's almost a free hit

I’m sure a few of you wouldn’t mouth off at opposition fans in the stands like this.

if you aren’t prepared to do it there it’s not much use playing internet tough guy
I would. What I write on any type of forum I'd be glad to say in open to who ever.

Ok... so if Essendon decide to pay up... no way AMT plus a 1st is our preference.
If... and its a big if a player is involved.. Merrett is the only one we would ask for...
Looking unlikely..

Therefore, Pick 6 & 7 would be of interest.

This is where it gets interesting.

What will Adelaide do at Pick 1.
Thilthorpe would have been their lock at Pick 2... but since they didn't get the Crouch compo here... they have an interesting dilemma to bid JUH at 1, or McDonald or Thilthorpe straight up.

We simply must grease their wheels a little with our Pick 14 downgrade, to avoid a bid a 1.. IF we get NM to bite on a trade of 6 and 7 to NM for 2..

We could then spin losing Dunkley into netting McDonald at 2, before JUH bid at 3... McDonald, Naughton & JUH roaming our forward half.... ridiculously enticing concept.... I've heard of two prong.... but a 3 prong makes a pitchfork does it not.

If the Crows take McDonald at 1, then we grab Hollands.... or..... from left field.... Grainger-Barrass at 2

I’m all aboard the Treloar train now!!

Would happily renegotiate a 3-4 yr deal with him at $600k with Pies covering $1-150k.
Pretty much what our next Dunks contract would’ve cost us.

I’m also coming around to a 1st and AMT in a deal with the Bombers.

1st to Pies for Treloar and change for JUH, Dunks to Ess for future 1st and AMT, Martin pre season draft, Hannan 3rd, JUH with what’s left over this year.

Take 2 1sts in to next year and potentially use to bring in established player/s then.

Treloar
AMT
Martin
Hannan
JUH

Our list is improved by a fair way with those ins. It’s also shaken up a bit which probably needs to happen.

Not too much of a reach thinking those trades could get done imo.
Somewhat agree. Yes AMT looks a bit out of shape even when fit, but we get him fitter and I doubt he goes missingas much when next to our forwards and our mids sending it down there, but would have to be Bombers first though.

Could a treloar trade be as simple as:

Dogs get - treloar, pies 2021 first
Pies get - dogs 2020 first, dogs 2021 second

We flip first rounders to help each other with the daicos/JUH stuff, and we throw in a future 2nd to help pay for Daicos as well.

We’ll have plenty of 2021 draft equity after the Dunkley trade anyways.

I had a read of the Collingwood board on the Treloar situation, and it appears he took unders for years to help them out, so the money he is being paid now is like a back pay. I think it’s really unfair to expect him to renegotiate a contract and miss out on money he has already earned.

i would be prepared to pick up Treloar but Collingwood need to pony up a slab for next years, his contract in 2022 drops down after that.

After early signs we were about to get Martin as an UFA it seems to have stalled. Hopefully it's only a matter of due process and we'll still get him as a DFA, or for pick 199.

However I was wondering whether he has been looking at what happens under Bevo's coaching to our rucks other than English (Trengove, Sweet, even going back to Roughead, Campbell and Minson). It's certainly unconventional - not ruck-friendly - and might be enough for him to be thinking twice about coming over.

I hope in courting Martin we have got Bevo to explain to him how he plans to use him in the senior side.

I’m sure that’s the reason or maybe he just doesn’t want to go yo be coached by one of the few Premiership coaches

Has there been anyone actually linking Treloar to us?

Sorry to be the party pooper but I can only assume that if he chooses to leave it will be to a typical “destination club.” Why wouldn’t he end up at Hawthorn, Geelong, Carlton, Essendon? We know Cap space doesn’t matter at these places.

Hope we’re seriously considering Stephenson from Collingwood, but wondering whether Jack Higgins would be worth a go? Particularly if we can’t get Stepho.
I will admit I did search up the age of his “brother” Shaun Higgins and reminisced about his silky skills. His trade could come down to the wire if Geelong has to throw the sink at the plastics and he might consider approaches from other clubs. He’s definitely not going back to Norf.
Imagine him healthy Like he has been the last 2 years playing high half forward and delivering deep inside 50...
Might be a nice fairy tale end and is an upgrade on Suckling IMO
Media saying Stephenson is on 500k not sure if he is worth the risk at that cash

Yep, posted something earlier. Our 2021 2nd is valuable to the Pies.

also keeps the Dunkley situation seperate

Why would Bevo put him in a spot that he’s good at 😂😂!! What’s wrong with the wing then halfback then half forward then wing then halfback!! I feel you mate I hope he has a good preseason and cements himself in halfback next year and is not moved around.

It’s a big year for Bevo next year, he has to stop constantly moving the chess pieces around. Obviously I get you have to sometimes move guys into different positions in games for structure but half the time the guys can’t be consistent because of the constant moving.
I tell you what if Bevo left us for a rich club like god forbid The Bombers he would absolutely kill it and we would look even bigger idiots than the collective Bombers fans

I think you are right there. Though I don't think Essendope supporters in the stands would be coming into a Bulldogs crowd to discuss trading [stealing] one of our best players.
As Agent 86 might have said, "If only we could use the internet for niceness"

Instead of viewing oppo supporters like Yoga as flogs, we should recognise they are just souls who have lost their way and help them see the light. :rainbow:

Seems I am in the minority and no AFL club is banging my door down to be a talent scout but I am not sharing the love when it comes to Tippa. When he is on he is on I agree but those occasions IMO are far too rare. There are numerous lengthy periods of absolute nothingness.
Yep I agree but is his best worth the risk? And is his bad part of the Bomber environment? I don’t know the answer but it might be fun to find out
