I’ll preface this by stating I have hated * since my Grade 6 teacher, who is married to a former * captain, attended the 1981 Brownlow Medal count. When I asked her the next day how her night was she told me it was wonderful watching 2 ex-Bulldogs win the medal.

The Dunkley situation is our ‘line in the sand’ moment. As has been stated all other ‘big’ clubs will be watching us. If we cave in for market value or unders we will be targeted for any player on our list. I think Josh’s value is a Top 10 pick – if he was out of contract. If he had a year to go it would be a Top 10 Pick and a first rounder. Given he has 2 years left on his contract and * are willing to pay $800-900k per year over 5 years (plus draft his brother) we need to let them know we want 2 x 2021 First Rounders (theirs and one of NM, Hawthorn or Adelaide’s – they can swap one of their 2020 picks for this) plus one of their 2020 B&F Top 5 – Ridley, Merrett, Langford or McGrath – Saad was the other but he is already off). If it doesn’t happen Josh stays and honours the contract he signed mid-2019. Pickering can state that Dunkley will not be at the Dogs in 2021 – I’d be willing to see him sit out the rest of his contract (which it wouldn’t come to). I know this is well overs but we can’t have other teams targeting our players with 2 years left on their contract and we can’t have players wanting to leave with 2 years left either. Rant over!

You're talking about a coach who has won four flags and a list that includes names like Gunston, Sicily, Wingard. With a midfield of Mitchell (brownlow medalist), Omeara and Treloar they could absolutely get back into finals next year.

Clarko is a great coach, but is also limited by a massive ego. He needs to suck it up and be crap for a while, and earn similar picks to those that bulit the core of his dynasty team (Roughy, Franklin, Lewis, etc).

They desperately need to rebuild, and the longer he keeps them in ‘finals contention’ - the longer they’re out of ‘flag contention’.

Agree with you that there is some talent on their list - although Sicily is out for 2021 - acl?
