Richard Wayne Van_Dyke , born in Missouri in 1925 to a stenographer and a salesman, has lineage back to a passenger on the Mayflower.

His surname is rooted in Dutch origins, although the man himself also has English, Scottish and Irish ancestry.

This might not seem remarkable in any way, so let me go on.

He left school in his senior year in 1944 to join the war effort, although his slender weight meant he could ultimately not take up the pilot role he so desperately sought. Instead, he ended up entertaining troops in the continental US, which is tantamount to aspiring to be a nuclear fission technician and ending up as a qooty player.

Oh, there was Mary Poppins (where he played the role of a delightfully quirky chimney sweep), the rapping on children’s albums, the published books and the passion for CGI. The Night at the Museum trilogy.

But his most significant and surely the proudest success across his long and fruitful life has to be his qooty career. A career spanning 200 games, establishing his club’s successful modern culture and ultimately laying the foundations for its second premiership. He’s a club Hall of Famer as well as being a dreamboat. Chim-chimery be damned - qooty is where this man does his best work.

His career has involved coups, attempted coups, talk about coups and just SO MUCH MORE. Let's look at HOW MUCH MORE he's achieved so far...
