Port Adelaide's plan to use jumpers similar to Collingwood

Port should try to design a guernsey of their own instead of trying to be Collingwood. Other expansion clubs like GWS and Fremantle have really leaned into their uniqueness and they feel like real footy clubs because of it.

If that were true then sure. But it's not.

Correct. For all Eddie's posturing the trademarks belong to the AFL.
the AFL may own the trademarks but the tradition, the identity, the history, the love of the jumper.. thats owned by the club and its supporters.

The collingwood magpies were in the comp first. the port adelaide power came along 20 years ago and, when joining the comp, agreed to differentiate itself from Collingwood.

you cannot simply start winding that back without giving essentially the main stakeholders a say...

They're asking to wear it twice a year. If it was once every few years as a special occasion I'd also be on board with it.

That's not what they're asking for though.
Against Adelaide, in South Australia, right?

Not seeing an issue.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Port selling Collingwood jumpers is a joke.

Port wearing the prison bars once in a blue moon is fine.

Supporters and the club selling, and wearing the jumpers on a regular basis is stupid. They joined the AFL. Collingwood was already there and they were wearing that jumper for forever and a day.

If some other club wanted to start wearing the hoops I'd say get stuffed

Like the Crows? They wear hoops.

You reckon Eddie wouldn't have gone down that track years ago if that was the case?

How would I know? I think he's tried to keep it as a gentleman's agreement re: heritage round over the years but he sounded tonight like this latest attempt by port is tipping them over the edge. But he was quite strong on saying Collingwood should litigate, tonight on FC. I'm just so bloody sick of hearing about it. And given port joined the AFL which Collingwood was already a huge part of, and port also wanted to distance themselves from the port magpies as much as possible at the time, and agreed to come in as a tricolour club, it should just stay as it is and never be brought the **** up again.
