could be a good target i reckon, he is wasting his time at Carlton although i don't see Carlton wanting to let him go and i also have another name i reckon will be good to target in Geelongs Charlie Constable and also Melbournes Harry Petty who is from SA, could be pushed out as Melbourne have a dominant backline and is 197 cm KPD. There are probably so many more out of favour players from other clubs but i can't think of them but those are the players we should be trying to target on top of the national draft.

If you keep all the experienced guys you can't play the young guys. Thats the point

I also didn't rate Stengle that highly but there's no way he should have been released.

I think another 2 quality years of drafting will do this group wonders and if players like you mentioned in McAsey, Worrell, O'Connor and Gollant can come on will be very beneficial plus you forgot to add Sholl as another standout player and Butts so there definitely is the makings of a good side there but with more support to be added in the next couple of drafts will help. Agreed. Aside from Thilthorpe, Pedlar is the one I really want to see entrenched in the 22 by season's end.

Would it have been good to keep Greenwood on a 4 year deal and Crouch on a 5 year deal? Because that was what the market price was.

The issue with our mids ATM is that Sloane and Matt have been out for a big chunk of the season. If we kept Greenwood and Brad, then we would have a midfield of Laird, Sloane, Brad, Matt, Keays, Greenwood - where do Schenberg, Sholl, Berry, Pedlar, McHenry, et al play...in the SANFL.

On Keath and Lever, if we then have $1.5m on salary cap on two intercept defenders, we aren't playing Butts or Doedee who would be on 'cheap' coin.

If we kept all of Keath, Lever, Greenwood and Brad, that would be about $2.5-3m a year on 4 players without a AA between them.

Yeah that is a good point, i just wish greenwood accepted what we initially offered him because he would have been very handy now as a mentor and he is not going to achieve anything at Gold Coast

Yeah that is true, I suppose we just got to be patient and hope Schoenberg, Sholl, Pedlar, McHenry and co can become solid players with hopefully a few to become A graders. Yeah when you put it like that, it would be a good chance we lose Doedee and Butts to others clubs so they can get more game time so that is a fair point you make.

I have seen Carlton a few times in the VFL the last few weeks and it really makes me wonder why we moved him on? If he wanted to leave that's different (personal reasons) but we seem to have put all our eggs in the mcadam basket... a medium forward like him would be very handy and Crocker is younger as well..

Yes, why?

We brought in 2 cheap imports - Keays & Crocker. One of them worked out, the other didn't. That's the nature of the game, when you're bringing in players rejected by their previous clubs.

Crocker looked OK in the pre-season games, but it quickly became apparent that he wasn't up to it when the real stuff started.

Much easier last year to get near the football in the midfield than the Forward Pocket/Half Forward Flank in a forward line that had close to record low forward entries.

He never looked like getting near it, and it wasn't because of a lack of opportunity. He was poor when the opportunities were presented.
