What do you guys think of my chances? Is it worth the bet? At $1.65 I make a $3000 profit towards a car I'm saving up for.

If you win its great but if you loose you would be cursing and it wont leave your mind for at least a month so bet about $500 max :thumbsu:

..and if the Hawks win at least your team has started the season well. You're 5 grand down but your team will be happy...

The problem you have now is that you can lose two ways .. either by betting it and losing it, or not betting it and not winning more. With one you stand to lose 5k, with t'other you stand to lose 3k. On that basis you should not bet it.

You have no idea how relieved i was after I did NOT put some money, any money, on Carlton to beat the Eagles last year, and we managed to fall over the line. I would have cried if we didn't get out of jail that day.

'putting money on a footy game' and 'saving up for a car' are somewhat diametrically opposed to each other.

Jesus but we are wise sages here on Bigfooty today.

May I ask why?

At 5-1 and if you had a large sustainable income I could kind of understand the logic, but betting with all the income you have and with the odds arguably already flattering the Lions (1.60) its an illogical bet. Just a tip, if you want to bet large incomes on a fixture that you have a 33.33% chance of winning (W-L-D) you want to get 3-4 times a return on your investment.

You’re funeral I guess…

On second thought...if he puts 5,000 on the Lions winning, economics suggests that the Hawks odds will probably balloon out to 3 dollars.

In a game that should be tight, a small bet (20-30 dollars) on Hawthorn could give you a good return

May I ask why?

At 3/4-1, I could kind of understand the logic, but 1.60 is just stupid.

The fact that $1.60 is a safe bet with some value makes it feel worth it maybe...and all he wants is to get a couple more grand...but yes, stupid putting it on the footy, put it all on BLACK!

He has the opportunity to win 3,000 dollars, but at the same time has the opportunity to lose 5,000 dollars.

From experience, if you're looking to bet 'big' you want to you're potential winning margin to be significantly higher then the losing margin.

The return for that size bet is ****, personally I don't think he has the odds to make it.

Without wanting to sound too much like the people in that British chat room who egged on that suicide last week, I reckon you should do it.

Why piss fart about?

The Lions will probably win and you'll be on the road to getting that car.
When was the last time we beat the Lions up there? I can't even remember...

And if the Hawks get up, you'll be singing "We're A Happy Team At Hawthorn"

It's a win-win situation.

Do it!

I always bet with Betfair. Always get better odds there.

Does anyone here seriously think hawthorn can get up in this one? Cause i cant imagine ever being more happy to see my team go down than this saturday if i place this bet.
