I've got a good friend - a Hawks supporter. Very intelligent, logical and successful in life. He also runs a successful business. However, when it comes time to talk footy, he's more than one-eyed.. He's delusional.

Now we all know the Hawks have struggled a lot in recent times (read 15 years), but we also agree they've got some talent there on the list.

But based on the way their coach shuffles the players around, plays chip-chip footy and basically doesn't get results, you'd think their supporters would be worried, or admit the possibility that they're not heading 100% in the right direction. You'd think there would be some unhappy Hawks supporters around, but they mostly seem to be still cheering... Especially my mate! In fact, he claims they're going to tank this year to get #1 pick to trade for Judd! Because his "gut" told him so.

Serious question - Do you think it's normal or do you think my mate is mentally challenged in some way? You may know him as Hodge2Franklin.

Let me tell you this one has been printed out and filed and will come up again in January?

Why don't you at least get your facts straight and mention that I told you today that the weekend was an aboration and that if the Hawks backed it up with consistently poor performances for a month or so, then I would start criticising them.

By the way Perrie is the forwards equivalent of Graham PolHACK.

You serious? How many years are the hawks gonna rely on tanking for picks? This is ridiculous. They've done it for the last 3 years and he wants more tanking and picks? Doesn't surprise me; if it was purely up to Clarkson he would defintely tank again for picks i have no doubt.

By playing so poorly on Saturday Night, our odds have blown out further then one of Hotdog's dolls, perfect for odds to sweep up on a betting plunge

It's common for delusional people to lash out violently when caring people try and help them out by shattering the fantasy land they've created... I understand, H2F, it's alright, I'm just trying to help is all.

I'm REALLY glad to know the delusion isn't wholly shared, what a mess of a situation for Hawk fans, knowing their fellow supporters are suffering so... Hopefully H2F can keep his head together as the Hawks try their guts out, but end up 0-5 over the next few weeks.

I don't believe that the Hawks supporters expectations of more wins and improvement on the ladder this year is unrealistic.
They have been rebuilding for several years now and have been putting up with poor performances during that time. There is a time when you expect that a team to show great improvement from that rebuilding or there will be serious questions raised about how well the rebuilding process is going.

That time is this year. They won 9 games last year, if they go more than a couple steps backwards (I think 7 or less games would be a good indicator of that) then those serious questions are definately going to be asked.
