Leo is an athlete too though, great burst and agility.Leo will be a beauty IMO. The best thing with those two boys are that they are footballers, not athletes trying to be footballers.
Our recent drafting and trading has been good, even Hill hitting his straps now. We just need to nail this draft and then see what the Ben King situation throws up next year.

It only took one excellent game to get him into the bigtime, watch out if he kicks a lazy against the baggers this week. Highly likely because they have a very leaky defence.![]()
Heir to the throne? How King stacks up with AFL's best key forwards
Off the back of a standout Round 19 performance, how does Max King's early career compare this era's greats?www.zerohanger.com
"However, star forwards of the game traditionally take a little longer to develop than some of their teammates. When comparing to stars of now and then, King doesn't appear as just a prospect, his numbers already are an ode to his talent and potential.
In his 35 games so far, King has kicked 52.46. While on the surface, the numbers look wildly inconsistent, they are not at all unusual for a forward finding his feet."
Good article on King's first couple of years and his numbers.
McCartin was Trout. I remember a video where, I think it was Richo and Finnis came in, and they were all like "Are you sure about this, we've just gotta get this right", and Trout was going on about how how McCartin had such great character, came from a good footballing family, and so on....Wonder if it was Richo stuffing up all our draft picks by making captain's calls and not Trout after all.

"NAUGHTY OR NICK?
Saints fans, look away now.
Before the 2017 draft there was a heated debate around Nick Coffield and Aaron Naughton at the St Kilda list management meeting.
List boss Tony Elshaug was adamant Naughton was the Saints’ man if he was still there at Pick 8 and he had most of his recruiters on side.
But Alan Richardson disagreed. The coach wanted more midfielders and pushed hard for Coffield. Richardson won the discussion and St Kilda went with the on-baller.
Those in the room for the debate said Richardson was adamant that they needed more ball-winners.

Coffield has shown signs but hasn’t nailed his spot, while Naughton is one of the most exciting key forwards in the league.
Three years earlier, St Kilda picked Jack Billings over Marcus Bontempelli.
There is time yet for Coffield, but as it stands Richardson got that one wrong. And officials at the Saints remember it like it was yesterday, not that they care to reflect on Richardson’s tenure too often"

Amazing how quickly it changes isnt it. Last year most would have been happy with Coff. Hopefully he can get back to his best, has had a shocking season.
If Naughton was the next Carey then I guess that makes Max the next John Coleman after Friday nightNaughton already showed signs of being the next Wayne Carey though. Naughton is going to be something special. Coffield is still looking like he's soldier class. Last year he at least looked like a soldier with a big gun. This year he look like he's jumping out of the trenches with a cap gun. I reckon Highmore might be the end of Coffield in his preferred role too. If we get Gibcus he probably struggles to break back into the side again without injury.
Exactly, its like every choice is in isolation and has no consequences. If taking naughton meant we passed on Max Kingthen I’m happy with Coffield.PLAYERCARDSTARTMultiple players found. Use birthday to differentiate. eg [PLAYERCARD="23/11/1962"]Joe Smith[/PLAYERCARD]PLAYERCARDEND
I'm really happy with Coffield think he will be a very good playerThanks for sharing. Whilst this is interesting to discuss, as these forums are for, it really doesn’t matter IMO. As Saints fans, we more than anyone should know that drafts can always go wrong, they’re calculated risks on potential. There is always a better player you should’ve taken at your pick etc etc, and the media LOVE to churn articles out of hindsight. And if my memory serves me correctly, five other teams could have taken Naughton anyway
I wasn’t a big fan of AFL during the Richo years, so I didn’t follow the club closely, but he does not give me good vibes. Appears that we have a much better team behind the scenes these days.
IMO, we have done very well from the 2017 draft. Clark, Coffield, Paton, Higgins (traded in), Clavarino. That’s a good crop of kids.
Think he had a few mates mowman.I'm really happy with Coffield think he will be a very good player
But my god Richo was nothing but a disaster for Stkilda, he alone set the club back years
