Well, with Mackay retiring it's time for me to retire my "security blanket" avatar. Possibly username too.

Though I'll wait until after all the drafts just in case we talk him into going around again. In fact I wonder if that's the plan? Announce retirement to head off any speculation or criticism when comparing the treatment of Talia/Lynch.

Once we're all distracted being excited about the Big Fish of trade week and the Shiny New Pick 2 we won't notice that "With the final pick of the 2021 rookie draft..."

Drop in there now that the club offered him a rookie deal for 2022 but he chose to retire so that they can say We always wanted Mackay to play on. Nothing's changed from the club's point of view.

Sounds like Dmac saved the club from themselves. Has definitely got the most out of his ability so he deserves some credit for that but in all honesty the club should have traded him some time back. Congrats on your career Dmac or should I say "Enforcer".

On what metric are you saying it is a “well above average career”. He has had an average career at best. He has been predominantly in the midfield over his career.

Thanks for everything Mackay. I never had an issue with David himself, he did his best for the jumper and never shirked the issue when it was time to put his body on the line. The club should have moved on him long before now but that's not his fault.

But Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in particular, seem to be the vehicle trolls use to attack people and to spread their lunacy to a wide community. At least these forums tend to be a bit restricted as to how many people see the comments.
