Ned I don’t really see what the difference is after today’s announcement. You’re worried about people you know becoming unwell due to the selfish, why don’t they just stay at home like we are doing now anyway? What’s changed?
September 23 year 12s sit exams, increase in construction sites, increase in exercise outdoors by an hour. Out of those 3, what’s gonna change that’s going to lead to deaths or hospitalisations of people you know and care about?
There’s no map or easing of restrictions after this period and there’s a gap until we are at 70% double dose end of October/November. As far as I’m concerned, we’re in the same position that we are currently. The rule breakers to get potentially infected.

Shouldn’t you be happy?

you think after this people are going to respect the 5km limit, the house visitation ban, or mask wearing?

They have just been told lockdown means nothing - we are off to the races as far as non compliance will go now IMO

Are the Feds fast tracking an mRNA plant here? Seems to me we are going to need regular boosters so need to get on the front foot and create our own supply.

feds are doing zero. vic, nsw, and qld are all working on their own independantly.

feds also reported to have refused CSL any dosh if their plant is in Victoria

We had a sh*t tonne of underground house parties during LD2, hence the air bnb parties and the likes of the chicks from Sunnybank seeding if back into Qld. It's what triggered the first curfew.

The drinking around Richmond hasn't resulted in a spike. 22 cases in Yarra mostly from he Fitzroy North outbreak. Was dumb, but living around the area looked largely like people getting Irish coffees. Behaviour wasn't that bad.

The cases are mostly in the same the geographic spread as last year. The settings are as tight as last year, particularly since the weekend of the aforementioned pub crawl and playground-gate.

I value houses for a crust and have driven all over town. Whilst the number of cars is higher than June 2020, it's still bloody cruisy!

Since the current harsh settings have come in, they haven't had the same effect. I'm suggesting that it's mainly Delta and it's what happens once it meets a critical mass.

google movement data is well up on LD2

Well we don’t seem to be listening anyway mate, so I don’t see the difference. I agree with you. My point is, those that choose to follow the rules should therefore still remain safe when doing the right thing. You should still have hope with that part of it.

When they said 70% of the eligible population having received the first dose, did they mention if they are using the 12+ population (the actual eligible population) or the 16+ population (as per the national road map)?

The quoted date for 70% relates to 16+

The man who just yesterday said it was too hard to police vaccine passports has implemented this rule:

"Construction sites will be able to increase to 50 per cent of their capacity where 90 per cent of their workforce have received at least one vaccine dose."

how the hell do you police 90 percent vaccination first doses and 50 percent capacity? And why 90 percent? It seems like he is tolerating some anti vaxer sentiment. Why not 100 percent?

The roads are really busy out there. The only real difference I am noticing is the 8.30 drop off/3.30 pick up times for schools make it less than in normal times. We also back onto a train line. Trains are pretty much empty. More cars are being used because of the drop off in public transport usage.

Feds have bought us more then enough booster shots until 2024. We dont need to rush and build a plant now. It takes 12 months to build. We can wait a year and make the best decision then. There may be a better approach to vaccines in 12 months time That doesnt involve mrna Technology.

not saying this is the feds logic though. It probably isnt. But we dont have a pressing need for now.

Unless we get a new mutation.

Andrews has officially given up covid zero. Despite victorias outbreak starting 6 weeks later then nsw he is removing restrictions at the same time as nsw. Mid september. Technically he is starting tomorrow but the bulk comes in mid september.

andrews gave up on delta quicker then gladys. WOW!

Yep whatever ticker he had is gone.

It is going to be interesting to see how some try to spin this.

Hard to argue Gladys erred on not locking down harder/sooner
Hard to criticise Gladys for announcing relaxation of restrictions amid rising cases
Hard to argue that even at 80% DD we cannot open if there is material Covid spread
Hard to argue that NSW are being cavaliver with their healthy system

Unless you are willing to criticise Dan for the same.

Good on Dan for seeing the light and making a political difficult decision and not just playing politics. It will be interested to see if his followers can also adapt.

Border between the town states should be down by November. Let’s all try and get along.

Gladys is indeed smiling tonight.

a month ago it looked like she was on the verge of having to resign.

victoria has changed all that.
