Logan Austin has been appointed playing coach of Bairnsdale for next year. Whats he like? I've heard of him but I've ever seen him play myself.

Was a bit loose on his man to be a defender at AFL level.
He could probably be an big mid at local level. Coaching is anyone's guess.

He was a talented player but as a defender he was as loose as any player I've ever seen. I think in the right AFL side he could have been a weapon.

Jack Steele AFLPA most courageous player.

Well deserved.

I reckon Lyon is just playing chicken with Carlton. From the limited amount that I've read, he hasn't said that doesn't want to be coach, he just doesn't want to go through the convoluted process that they've put together. Who can blame him? The whole footy world knows exactly what you get from Ross as coach, what great insight do Carlton think they're going to get by making him jump through hoops for 45 days?

If Carlton want him as coach, they'll offer him the job straight up this week.

Don't think their pride will let them

Won't happen.

New board in chaos already. Sayers making calls (contacting Lyon) without consulting the other board members is creating major rifts.

Lyon then shot himself in the foot by publicly canvassing for the job while Teague was still coach. That further upset some board members and gave them the opportunity to demand a "process".

Not sure if Lyon would agree to a "process" because then things like his departure from Freo might get raised.

It sounds as if the internal politics that always make everything there dysfunctional has reared it's head. There are a lot of egos and political rumblings seething below the surface there. There are people organising extraordinary general meetings, potential tickets being put together and factions all protecting their hard won power. It's held them back for 20 years. A lot of rich and powerful operators who know better and make sure that they are central to decision making assert themselves at any opportunity. It's seriously broken. They should run a broom through the place, they are never going anywhere until they get rid of the power brokers.

Two different groups are putting together tickets for a board spill and there are fans calling for an extraordinary general meeting with the hope of changing their constitution to give them the arse as well. Shit is getting messy there. When everyone goes in to saving their own arses mode nothing good happens. Right in the middle of trying to pick a coach and tempt in Cerra. It's a soap opera there.
