Carlton's mandate was to get the best experience coach available, experienced coaches don't go through a process, if clarko was keen, would he need to go through the process, where at the end, they say actually Kingsley interviewed better, will go with him.

Carlton sacked Teague on the thoughts, wrongly they are a top 4 side. There's an old adage that if you follow the best you'll never beat them, Carlton board want them to be Richmond, why can't they be different? The best form of defence is attack, when you have McKay, McGovern, Curnow, Martin, Betts shouldn't you try and be as aggressive as possible ?

That's ridiculous, you need to go through a thorough process and that doesn't just include giving an incoming coach carte blanc because they've got a solid coaching record and a few former players can vouch for them.

You’re not just choosing who the 'best' coach is, you're selecting based on who is going to be the best fit for your club and list, and you want them to outline why they want the position, what their vision is and what the blueprint is going to be to get there.

What you're referring to is exactly how Malthouse at Carlton type appointments occur.

I didn’t think I’d be saying this in 2021, but the way Carlton have handled this senior coach thing, it’s made Collingwood look like grade A professionals.

Hawks too, and they undermined and knifed the best coach of the modern era, one they had contracted for a couple of years.

I assume both clubs are sending the Carlton board a fruit basket.

I totally understand the frustration borne of years of underperformance, however your guy was on the right track and the review should have been slanted towards "how do we make this guy a Hardwick or a Clarkson or Chris Scott

That'd qualify most coaches in the league.

I thought it wasn't the defeat it was how you bounce back from it that was a true test of a person's calibre? Maybe not at CFC.

Rejected by Lyon. Rejected by Clarkson. Sayers just needs to eat humble pie, pick up the phone and ring Teague, and implore him to come back. Failing that perhaps….David Parkin, or maybe Barass would like to make a comeback. What a debacle!

End of the year, when their season was over, the blues were in every other game during the season, if they'd snatched half those, they would have made the 8.

Can’t believe they had Ross Lyon keen a coach who has taken both clubs he has coached to a GF and some how turned him off the job.

Unfortunately the board members against it have cost the club dearly. I’m not saying he would have coached them to a flag but would have layed the foundation towards future success

I refuse to bother to read the rest of this thread because I am arrogant and entitled, but because I'm arrogant and entitled I feel the need to comment. As to the question posed I have to ask "arrive where?". Are they arriving at Finland Station, Lake Geneva, Sam Pang's house, a recycling factory for paper bags, Lygon St on a Friday night during lockdown? And what will they do there after arrival? Will they hang around until they're all paid off? Or will they do a bit of a kick to kick for the kiddies and Jeannie?
