that's the thing. I think Heath could play the Luke Jackson role next year. Not full ruck but play forward and just help out for a bit each quarter
I think you need to keep your hopes in check , they were drafted at different drafts for a reason , not saying heath wont make it though

That’s how free agency works

You didn't answer my question. As far as i can tell the difference between restricted vs free agent is, the restricted player can have their offer matched by the original club while a free agent can move freely for whatever contract they are happy with while the original club cannot match. I see no mention of draft picks hence my question.

If he can only move at this point in time if the saints agree to a draft pick, why would ANY team do a trade now?

He’s an unrestricted free agent. If he was genuinely in demand, a club would add him their list right now.
Yep, clubs don't even want to give him a spot on their main it seems the only interest is getting him as a rookie, and even that appears limited to one club.
It's a shame because he's shown that at his best he is a decent player.

No one has to trade.

He is an unrestresticted free agent.

If a club wants him they offer him a contract and if he agrees he goes straight onto their list.

No handing over a pick.

As a restricted free agent he can sign with another club and the Saints can choose to match the offer. In this case though, the Saints have said they won't be offering him a new deal, so other clubs already know we won't be matching any offer made for him. Any club that wants him can have him for nothing now.

He’s an unrestricted free agent meaning he can move irrespective of whether we agree to him leaving or not.

If that was the case then Ladhams would be a target
I think Heath would be the Luke Jackson role 2022 with ideally Paddy playing most and Marshall his usual role. Anytime Paddy can't play Ro goes full ruck and Heath moves into Marshall's role. 2023 onwards its Ro and Heath duo

have to agree to disappear here. He was drafted before Sharman in the MSD and Sharman is looking to cement a permanent spot in the forward line in the next preseason
Have you ever watched Heath play? Or is this 'he's our Jackson' some continual shit posting that's going over a lot of heads?

He could turn out to be a very good ruckman but it will take time. He was looked in his first draft for a reason while Jackson went pick 3 for a reason.

And Sharman has nothing to do with Heath, especially when the club itself has said Sharman exceeded every expectation they had.

i think Heath and Jackson are two completely different players. it'd be like comparing Sean Darcy with Nic Nat

Mostly based on his physical attributes, the highlights package from the club and the way he describes himself. Extremely physical, second efforts after the ruck contest, loves tackling. At one point he said the player he models his game around is Rowan Marshall.

Wow different players always develop the same after drafting?

He is playing against kids , not grown men OMG

No to drafting Mac Andrew unless there are literally no decent mids at our pick, and if that’s the case I’d go for Gibcus instead.

More of a fan for Sweet over Xerri. He came in this year for the dogs and got quite the praise at AFL level. If my memory is correct, he didn’t play finals as Doggies preferred Stef Martin as that’s what they brought him in for. 23 years old and should be cheap, perfect for us. It would be Flynn or Sweet for me.

That being said, I’m pretty optimistic for Heath as well. Wonder how high he would’ve gone if he was in the national draft and actually got to play some games.
Yep, i like the look of Sweet. Big man that isn't afraid to throw his weight around, but at the same time still looks atheltic and skilled enough.

Also played with Wilkie at North Adelaide

Problem is, Dunstan doesn’t want to be depth.
Problem for Dunstan is he may need to take what's on offer.
Essendon and Gold Coast look to be the 2 clubs interested
Is he best 22 at Essendon?
Gold Coast will likely offer him a Rookie Spot? Yet most likely be the team he gets most games at
Interesting to see what eventuates !
