North posters on Bigfooty are really upset about losing Xerri, NOT. Drops chest marks. clanger rating high, OK at VFL level, has not impressed when transitioning to AFL. It's a no from me. Waste of a draft pick in a draft that might provide gems in the later rounds.

Earlier in the year they were telling me he was going to be better that Marshall and Grundy combined....funny how things change

You would think there would be a bit more interest in him if that was the case
Yeah I know, but look at someone like Jarryd Lyons… basically given to Gold Coast for free who then de-listed him and since finished 4th, 2nd and 3rd in a side playing finals every year.

At 70kg he will need to go on a Plugger 66 diet for 2yrs for he is ready otherwise he will be just like a flea.
Hope he like's Dim Sims and VB.

Plugger’s got him in training already [emoji1303]

No that’s not quite right.

He’s a UFA meaning;

StK can’t match any offer he receives.
If he signs elsewhere during FA period StK can receive a compensation pick.
We haven’t officially said he won’t be offered a new deal although it’s probably common knowledge that we won’t.
He hasn’t been delisted.
A club can sign any free agent (restricted or unrestricted) for nothing.
If he doesn’t sign during FA period he will be delisted at the 1st list lodgement.
Then he can be signed as a DFA & we would get sweet FA.

A question or two W2L.
If Luke goes either as UFA or DFA, it is on contract $’s that are negotiated between the parties?
But if he is rookied, does that mean he is on rookie wages ($100k) or can he be rookied at a negotiated $’s?
In other words, does he suffer a $ penalty if rookied rather than contracted?

My mistake, yes, he is unrestricted. It still doesn’t change the fact that if another club had any interest in him they could sign him now. It makes no difference to them. What benefit do they get by waiting? The risk is that another club might sign him first.
I’m pretty sure the Saints have said we aren’t offering him a new deal. I’ll have to go and find out when that was.

Don’t want Xerri just to avoid the inevitable shithouse puns like “He had two bites of the Xerri” etc as he drops chest marks. Makes it too easy for the dribblers in the box.
Imagine Kent & Xerri both pounding the footy forward with their rubber chests. froff.

We really need to sort out the Bing situation, that makes a huge difference to our other targets. If we got a serious nod from him for next year then we shouldn't be pumping any decent picks into another FWD/Ruck, vice versa if he indicates re-signing with gold coast then it's an important piece we need to find elsewhere.

Remember when we were after some guy named Sam Draper. And then we scratched our heads again when we landed Paddy Ryder. If we’re after another ruckman I’m going to back them in that they know what they’re doing.

St Kilda are set to land a deal for North Melbourne ruckman Tristan Xerri.
- Tom Browne, Channel 7

what would we give for him - Lonie or is that to much.

As long as we ignore Hunter then....... ;)

Xerri looks at present to be a major upgrade on Hunter and would be capable fill in ruck. Not sure how big is upside is, but at least unlike Hunter he should get better.

I definitely do not want to go into 2022 with Hunter as our back up ruck. Ideally we want to rest Ryder in some games so that he is ok for finals.
And Max Heath while looking most promising is going to be very young and raw in 2022.

So with Xerri it really gets down to trade cost. Hopefully it will be very low.

Xerri is very unlikely to be a gun. In an ideal world he hardly plays next year and Max Heath overtakes him the year after. Will he cost much? No.
Does he improve our list more than Paul Hunter? Yes.
Temper your expectations and accept he’s there to fill a role and a need.

Yeah kind of agree, but Mac Andrew highlights are insane tho and seems to have that Ryder style ruck craft.

That's an insane highlights reel. There aren't many of these around so he really stands out. He looks like he could be a star type but pretty sure he's going to GC or GWS. There are going to be more and more of these South Sudanese kids coming into footy. My son played a against a few who looked like stars in the making as well. Their size and athleticism are insane.

He would have to be better than P.Hunter or why even look at him.
He's probably on par right now, but if you are going to have a back up ruck on your list you might as well make it one that has plenty of improvement left in them.

Judging by his VFL form I don't think he'll have any trouble going past Hunter very soon.
