Sweden still practiced Eugenics till the early 70s. Sweden does have a lot of hot women.
So does Brazil....oh wait!

Also love how Blinky liked this post even though he's pretending not to be in favour of eugenics.

Money from Taxes > Money To Welfare > Welfare Spends Money (which pays people who pay taxes) > Cycle Repeats

Welfare is shitty, but it's certainly not completely shitty and it's 'burden' is overblown as most of the money just recirculates. I don't like or want more undesirables as the next guy, but welfare is a safety net for a lot of good people as much as those who aren't good people.

It’s a shitty cycle for sure.

My old man was laid off a few years back when the company he worked for went bust. After 45 years working and in an attempt to bridge the gap before finding new employment, he went and asked centrelink about any payments he might be able to receive in the interim. Was told he needed to be unemployed for 12 weeks before he was entitled to a cent.

So that’s where i see the disparity in welfare, where someone who just needs a helping hand to get him through some tough weeks, whilst actively seeking re-employment, is entitled to nothing. Yet, someone who has spent their life with their hand out and never worked, continues to receive funds to do nothing.

I'm certainly not saying our system is perfect, it needs alot of work. But I am saying the general premise of welfare is sound.

Should have saved some money if he'd worked 45 years then shouldn't he. His own bloody fault.

Joke aside, you are really saying there isn't ENOUGH welfare.

The system is saying it's only for the desperate. I'm sure after 45 years of working he has assets and savings yet still needed welfare.

Imagine the situation those eligible must be in!

100%

Without welfare, the country would be a mess. My only major point was that if you can’t afford to have children, then don’t. It shouldn’t be the state’s responsibility to fund the poor choices of people that can barely afford to house and feed themselves, let alone others.

People that get in to financial grief, that is not of their own doing should absolutely get help via the welfare system! That goes without saying.

Eugenics, nazis, pauline hanson etc has nothing to do with it.

Old enough to reach a maturity level that surpasses News Corp sound bites.
Old enough to have experienced first hand how an individual's life circumstances are not always a result of poor choices.
Old enough to have empathy for those who don't have what you take for granted.

Which is clearly older than you are now.

People have different opinions. Are you seriously suggesting that everyone over the age of 60 suddenly reaches a level of magical wisdom when they want all taxpayer money to go to welfare? Because if anything I'd say its the opposite.

I mean its a different issue, but gee its a shame that those immature kids aren't old enough to see that we shouldn't phase out fossil fuels, maybe they'll understand when they're older:

- Welfare Ok but Current System Sucks
- Coronavirus bad, Vaccines good
- Racism bad, immigration good
- Women good
- Australian Politics Bad

- Sam Skinner should be called Roller

What side of the fence does 1945 and pauline hanson sit, when it comes to climate change?

Pauline would burn all the coal on earth if it meant keeping people in jobs, basically. So she has a heart for the 'aussie battler' but struggles with the bigger picture.

"Pauline where do you stand on anthropogenic climate change?"
"Please explain"
"Well, climate change caused by humans"
"Please explain"
"People making the weather get hotter"
"Please explain"
"Swamped with vroom vroom cars. Everywhere hot."
"....."

So everyone’s on welfare?

Not welfare - an economic system that ensures everyone has enough to live (not survive) but still incentivises those who want more. Think of all those small businesses and entrepreneurs who would thrive in a society where everyone had some disposable income for their own discretionary spending. Financial stress is reduced for everyone and nobody has to resent others getting something they don't.

Welfare is a safety net. It is important to keep society civil and help people that need it.

There are also people that play the system, families that have been on welfare for generations and people who might otherwise be useful to society but simplty chose not to be.

You both can be right.
It’s also an insurance policy for those of us with plenty.
Imagine the crime rate if there wasn’t a decent safety net!
