Really? I recall a few making the boring pick of Melbourne going back to back.Don’t remember this level of hype even prior to the 03/04 seasons.. Bloody hell - every journo and his apprentice jumping on us for the flag.
Don’t know if I like it…

I think a lot have us losing to Melbourne in the Grand Final. On AFL Daily yesterday Damien Barratt picked us for the flag, and his current offsider Nathan Schmock had us as the losing grand finalist... Definitely the most preseason hype I can remember.
That's what I've seen too. I think it's unlikely that it's the matchup, but it definitely seems a plausible and maybe most likely pick at this stage.I think a lot have us losing to Melbourne in the Grand Final.

We could easily play them 3 or even 4 times this year, if both teams make the grand final. Getting waaaay ahead of myself here but we've got two home and away clashes and a good chance of at least 1 final. If that final is in week 1, then the grand final is a possibility.I think having Melbourne as favourites over us at this stage is very fair. We'll see how opinions change as the season progresses, but I'd absolutely love to see our best 22 v their best 22 at one point in the season. Hopefully things work out and both teams are fit and firing when they face off.
NAB league testing day.
Ashcroft’s official height 180cm, weight 76kg.
wait for all the "too small, will never survive at AFL level, etc, etc"NAB league testing day.

Well, if it makes him drop further down the draft board, then great. I’m all for that.wait for all the "too small, will never survive at AFL level, etc, etc"
Sounds fair. Just too short to be a premium midfielder in the modern game. Cant see how anyone will want to bid a first round pick on him. All my worries about not having enough points to match an early first will have been unwarranted. Such a shame if we have to match a bid in the second or third round instead.wait for all the "too small, will never survive at AFL level, etc, etc"
He wasn’t far of the 181cm cut off but yeah his height doesn’t effect how he plays at all, Rowell another good example at 180cmWell, if it makes him drop further down the draft board, then great. I’m all for that.
But then again:
4. Collingwood: Nick Daicos
Height: 182cm
Weight: 73kg
Must be time for a 2022 Draft thread
Join a team who could be a top four team for years to come or join one of West Coast, Gold Coast, North Melbourne or Adelaide. Hard choice, really.
He’s locked in, nothing to worry about. It's also whether he will be able to play AFL games or not if he gets up to Brisbane, whereas he's guaranteed to play senior games at the other clubs. Bit annoying but not much we can do about it. I'm sure the Lions have done everything they can to accomodate him.

In your opinion do you believe he'll good enough to break into our team from day one? He’s locked in, nothing to worry about.

I'm pretty certain he'll be at the club either way, more so how he stacks up with other gun 17 year olds. Is he in the same tier as a Daicos and Horne-Francis at 17?If Will isn't a Lion I'll shout everyone on this board a Lion's membership.
He's a lock.
That’s a hard one. I wouldn’t want him in the middle from the get go. I’d have him on a wing or half forward if a spot opens up.In your opinion do you believe he'll good enough to break into our team from day one?
That’s hard to compare, because Will basically lost most of his U16 and U17 seasons to covid lockdowns, while Horne-Francis didn’t.I'm pretty certain he'll be at the club either way, more so how he stacks up with other gun 17 year olds. Is he in the same tier as a Daicos and Horne-Francis at 17?
